Im actually really sick and tired of this game. People activley try to get rid of new players. everyone is so focussed on winning that all manners and basic politeness/social skills go out the window with people raging at each other. even their friends. Its sickening and debased to see people so obsessed with winning that they would drive away new players and even be racist to people if it makes them feel better. People try to forget that they were ever new players. Its one the driving arguements in the 'Dota 2 has the ****tiest community' arguement. I missed the days when if you died in a video game people would just say 'Oh well, better luck next time' instead of ' OMg noOB, nO WARDs? stuPid nOoB deLEtE DoTa ****** u HavE 6 KIlls nooB.' Im just SO ****ING SICK OF IT. For gods sakes, people cant help being new to the game, we should embrace new players and try to help them. Not scream at them and abuse them.
There's one thing that I find helps keep people from flaming you: try and be a team player. Ironically, this often causes the people who are douches to do better, which means they are less likely to flame at you and more likely to brag about how good they are doing, which is fine, because they'll figure out (eventually) that it isn't all about them. Either that, or they're going to go die fifty times because they try and team kill by themselves and realize it don't work to well.
And yes, it was an upsetting realization when we figured out that we were actually playing 4v5 because some idiot was actually trying to lose while taking up two slots on a team....
On a different note, +1 SuperNova. I am in complete agreement. It is sort of the irony of online videogames, though. There are SO many people who obsess way too much about winning. Honestly, I'd rather have a good clean, close game and lose then have a game full of infighting and hate talk and win.
I wish there was a way of having a team of mixed skill levels so some of the more skilled players could actually teach and still have a fair game. I can't imagine it working out well with a higher level player going into a low-level pub match or vice versa. I still remember my first game on LoL where I got pulled into a fight with lvl 20-30 players. *Shudders* Oh, the hate speech....

I'd like to thank you all for taking the time to explain how the system works and let me know that things DO get better.
I was so frustrated to find myself on the low priority list for THREE days because everyone on my team was foreign ( Some sort of spanish) And they ALL reported me because i couldn't communiciate.
Mind you im matchmaking on US EAST and US WEST servers.
Does anyone know why even the people from other countries match make in US EAST And WEST?
As a Geography Major, I might be able to shed a bit of light on that.
1. The US, contrary to popular belief, has no national language.
1.1 You are not technically required to know English to live in the US.
2. Spanish is one of the fastest growing languages in the US.
2.1 US Southwest is desputed to be more highly populated by Spanish speakers in some areas due to large amounts of immigration.
3. Due to its proximity, Mexico and some Central American countries may find the connection to US servers more effective due to better technology and such in the US.
4. Not everyone likes to follow the logical rules of servers and play where they are supposed to.

I understand the United States has no national language, and im guessing the problem im having isnt with the Spanish-American players.
I've lived in the Southwest and id guess about 75% of those spanish speaking people, They also speak English.
It's just beyond frustrating, It seems as though the easiest way to get out of low priority is simply just to NOT play until you are out, Seeing as how everyone in every low priority game wants to report EVERYONE.
Perfect example - I just got reported for picking sniper.. Before the game even started some kid on team was telling both teams to report me for picking sniper..
Reported for picking a hero that the game provides?>
