So if you're confused about the question, what would the majority of you think of a guide that consists of all heroes. They're short guides linking to other guides, sort of like a glossary, just want to know what the community thinks!

You mean, a guide where you can find the best guide for every hero?

Well, I do not think if this is necessary, since you can just select the hero you want and find the guide that you like the best.

It's not a bad idea, I just don't think it's needed.

i agree with hades on this.
If someone wants to find a hero guide, he will simply search for that hero and not search for a guide that only sends him to another guide :)

The whole point of the glossary guide is to help separate guides from each other based on my opinions as a DOTA veteran. I rate some of the guides for a specific heroes, some guides can be 5/5 on the site but to me it's can be a 3/5.

Here's the current basic system I use to rate guides:

1: Terrible Guide
(ALT-TAB guides, in-accurate or confusing information, barely any content)

2: Needs work
(Has information regarding hero but doesn't cover much)

3: Ok guide
(Accurate information, good builds, need more information to be helpful)

4: Good guide
(Held back by the presentation, formatting, spell mistakes, etc)

5: Fantastic guide
(Easy to read, covers everything while looking very presentable

I don't like this, all my guides are 3/5. xD

that would only put people down on their guide making skills (i only bring this up because i shall be publishing my first guide soon) but it is basically reflected in their number of likes and up votes already is it not?

I was hoping to actually motivate guide writers to get better at making a guide instead of typing huge wall of text. They're hard to read and really separates someone who has a decent level of English proficiency. (No offense) There are a few guides that explain a situation then possible outcomes of that situation then what might happen if this outcome didn't happen.

Get it? I want guides to be clear, add videos and/or pictures to help visualize that moment or skill/etc. Pictures can speak a thousand words so I've been encouraging better formatting through the community.

The number of likes doesn't actually give a good representation of how well the overall guide is done. If it works for whomever is using the guide then they'll +1 for the information provided, not the WHOLE of the guide (<--Hard to exaplain, sounded better in my head) Think about guide writers writing the same information but slightly different, which is better than the next? If they provide the same information why does X guide have better ratings than Y guide? Take a look at Centaur guides. All the guides that are there are generally offering up the same information so what helps separate good guides from the average guides?

This is an even better example, compare
Peppo_o'Paccio's guide to Chen, the Holy Knight and LazyPanda *=== 's guide to Chen "ALL ARE HEALED"

They provide the same information but it's clear that Peppo_o'Paccio's guide is far superior in terms of how well formatted and written the guide is. I'm talking about how he explains to when he explains, etc.

...and it's not like I won't update the ratings I give if writers update their guides -.-

Well since you would handle this alone, it would probably be considered too arbitrary & not "democratic" like it currently is, sure it might increase quality overall, but some might not agree with you at all.

Maybe make all Veteran players decide which guides are worth the spotlight instead of just one person, that way the best guides may be selected by the elite players of this site instead of randoms, this may still remain arbitrary to some degree, but not as forced as having only one person.

And you are probably going to have to also review the standards on which a user is granted the veteran status.

I think your idea is a step in the right direction, just needs some tweaks

Yea I know :/

That sounds kind of like we're some kind of corrupt government from a corny movie, not going to do that. The guides are being rated according to the basic rating system I've set so I don't judge based on nothing. (I might increase it to 1-10 for more accurate judgement but... not now) I'm going to frequently update this glossary to the changes writers make after my initial rating, if they improve it, I will change it accordingly.

The standards are not for me to decide, it's dem red text admins!
