An opinion and putting down someones intelligence are two completely different things. I find myself doing this, but criticizing someones guide over their play style and play skill is just stupid because think about it. It's their guide, if someone takes the time to write a guide on how they play a hero then give them some respect the work they put in. If you have a problem with their build/guide/tips then put it nicely, but I've noticed lately people taking criticism the wrong way and getting all defensive which leads to the 'critizier' getting pist off which starts a fight, which leads to some hurtful things being said which is really unnecessary. I don't see just new members or senior members doing this, but mods/editors, too. I believe that this is not the way to handle anything and is very childish on our parts. I think we should thrive for being a respected Dota website and not looked at like a bunch of 12 year olds.

Just my opinion, Let me know what you think.

Kyle

I agree completely. I say if you don't like some the of the criticism just ignore the comments. If you know some comment is going to provoke you just ignore it, seeing as it won't go anywhere and may end up in a feud in which rules may be broken. And if a comment on your piece of work breaks the rules, report it.

EDIT: There should really be a "report this post" option next to +rep.

I think the big problem is a lot of this is overlooked by our group of editors. I've seen a lot of guide comments go way to far and not one doing anything until Matt comes. Matt's word isn't god. If our editor group does not have the power to do something about the drama going on one I'd say 50% of the guides then Matt needs to give them power and if they do have they power (I know you guys do a lot), but start cracking down on these guide fights.

True, or give a few active members limited power to act as "enforcers" with no other real modship.

You don't understand what us editors actually do then, it would seem. All that we can do is change the database, nothing more. I agree, the recent... drama... went a little too far. You put two people together and drama will happen. I think we do need a single moderator to help control the site when things get a little out of hand. The admins are usually just in and out for updates, so there really does need to be someone here to help keep everyone on good behavior.

Untill then i could recomend sending a PM to Matt or any other of the admins if you feel any thing should be "Moderated".

Just use my name, it's not like what you are referring to is an isolated incident.

There have been several incidents, though. Not just the most recent one.

My point is even if you editors are unable to do anything. It doesn't make it right for you to start fights and be a part of fights. Other members see you guys as moderators etc. and if they see you in a fight and you commenting on a guide that turned into a fight and what not they'll get the idea that fighting is ok because even the 'editors do it'. I just think if your going to act like foolish and disrespectful to members just trying to test out our guide system/maybe looking for tips on they play heroes/just putting an item build then just let it be and don't be a **** about it. Then Loveless before you completely deny it I clearly stated this is everyone including my own problem. I also think if you don't care and think I'm just coming at you as a personal attack at least give your job to someone else that can help give us the respect from other sites we deserve.
