I've been in a lot of games recently where someone will buy S&Y, and than proceed to be yelled at by there team for buying a useless item, but they won't have a good reason why not to buy it. I personally don't really play any anyone that could call for it so I don't have much of an opinion. I would however like to know what the community thinks and can give some insight to why S&Y is good or bad so I can give some facts to my team instead of raging at someone for no reason like my team usually does.

Sange and Yasha isn't a bad item, it's just pretty expensive for the stats it offers.

If you plan to buy Sange and Yasha, I'd suggest you to disassemble it later on and turn Yasha in Manta Style, which is a great item, used by many heroes for stats, attack speed, movement speed, and mainly, damage, and turn Sange in Heaven's Halberd, which is a great item to disable carries and will provide you with some damage, extra HP and a 25% evasion chance.

That makes sense. So theoretically, if a game was going well and someone was going to build manta and halberd later, S&Y wouldn't be a bad idea to hold you over until you get there?

No, it would be a good idea, but there can be better options though.

It isn't a bad item necessarily, it's just that there are always better items to get that are more specific.
