I've been playing a ton of weaver lately with pretty good success. Yesterday I even got my brand new Kills and Hero Damage record!

Anyway, I have been playing a very greedy deso rush weaver. Item orders earlier are:

Tango, Ring of Basilius, ring of aquilla, Boots of Speed, Desolator.

I barely ever upgrade my boots to something other than Boots of Travel. After deso I get crystalis into Dragon Lance, then upgrade to Daedalus into situational items like Heart of Tarrasque/ Linken's Sphere/ Black King Bar but if those are unneeded I get Monkey King Bar.

Late game my usual items are:

That's an extremely squishy Weaver build, until you get heart/linkens/bkb at like minute 30 odd.

Well, I got away with building Linken's Sphere late only after Daedalus here. Maybe it's just that my enemies can't punish well, though.

This build is soooo greedy.

But if you can get away with it, then ya, it's great.

But otherwise you die over and over again.

Relying on your enemies not ****ing up and leaving you unchecked is not a wise strategy, but if it works, it works.

That is generally my exact build except I finish the aquila and treads then go deso and if they have very little lock down think about getting a medallion b4 crit or any other damage item cause basically it is a lvl 3 sardar ultimate if u get the swarm off also

Aquila and Treads on Weaver is a big difference, his Hp pool is that small. Also, that's the main reason I say is a squishy Weaver build.

Ive never understood Dragon Lance on Weaver. It doesnt make sense. When playing Weaver you're not attacking from is distance like a Sniper or Enchantress or Shadow Fiend. You use invis to get right on top of them and melt them before they can get away. Rinse and repeat since invis is only on like a 6(?) second cooldown.

Yeah sure it gives agility and tank you up a bit but really you should go plain 'ol BKB if you want that.

+ 14 strength and agility.
It's a stat item. Like a Drum of Endurance, but better.

Compare with the pre-nerf drum. Pre-nerf drum was +9 to all stats so +27 stat points in total. Lance is +28 stat points. And STR/AGI are way more valuable than INT on Weaver.

The range increase is just the icing on the cake. Lance is the new drum for ranged AGI heroes.

Without lance : 425 range
With lance : 565 range

Say there's a Lion in the enemy team. Hex has a 500 cast range. With lance, you can kill him while constantly being outside of hex range. Earth Spike unit targeting is 500 range as well, so he can't reliably spike you either, he'll have to ground target and then you can dodge it.

That's the point of having a high attack range. It's not for chasing, it's for kiting. Being able to take down heroes while constantly staying out of the range of their skills.

It works against a lot of other guys as well. Crystal Maiden can't frostbite you. Dragon Knight can't stun you. Axe can't call you. Etc.

Enchantress is special sure, but Weaver gets way more out of the attack range increase than SF or Sniper. Lance is a kiting item, and SF and Sniper aren't especially known for their ability to kite when they get jumped...
