HeyGuys

After an absolitely ****ty game as Medusa earlier, I want to be a better farmer. What ive heard from here is something called a "farming pattern". Can anyone describe this? I am still unsure what this means. Do this mean something about clock timings, rotations, team fights, etc? Can anyone give me an analysis on a "farming pattern" of a professional player? I have *tried* to see Artour's farming pattern but i figured coordinated smokes wont appear in public matchmaking.

That is all and thanks in advance.

okey dokey

farming patterns are the movement of the carry/mid/herowhoisfeedingandneedstofarm that gives them the maximun efficiency for the lest effort. so basically dont run bottom for farm then tp top. maximize your movement.

thats its essence

maximizing your movement

so instead of farming wave you reliase your going to be pushed out or not able to farm a wave so you "force"the way then move to the nearest creep camp and take say the big creep then when the tower has pushed your wave back you move back to lane and you have then maxed your movement. instead of waiting at their tower for it to be safe to farm you utilize that time to farm something safe.

also farming patterns are when you can see 4-5 waves ahead and adjust how you last hit accordingly;

extra ranged creep? and its 3 waves from tower? push the next wave so the tower can clear it out before the next one arrives. get all the last hits and then move to jungle. say you just fought mid? dont tp top straight away. farm your way there. take the camps on the way or stack one on your way top.

say your on half hp and mana and you just won a team wipe but you cant push? so you have to return to base farm the camps on the way back.

a;lso the more advanced form of farming patterns is to go wave - wave -hard- easy wave wave hard easy medium hard hard hard.... so that doesnt make sense huh?

this is what it means

dire top. you take a wave when its going to push then you go to the hard camp pull clear that then easy camp pull then back to the wave and force it so now there will be 2 waves going to land under the tower by that time hard and easy have respawned so you clear again then move to medium then hard closest to tier 2 then to hard rune then to easy then to hard then back to wave. youve done a loop but utilised your time to maximize your farming.

thats a farming pattern.

If you can't farm, then fight. If you can't fight, don't die.

But, as a carry, if you can't farm or fight, you lose the game. Should have picked someone who is either more item independent or can take fights earlier.

Each person has their own farming pattern... I couldn't actually tell you what mine is, because it's instinct now and I'm not really paying attention to my exact movements.

I've been meaning to do this for a while actually - so probably next weekend I'll go into a lobby and just farm away, while discussing what I'm doing. This way a lot of people can see my particular farming style.

PS: May do a few for a few different Heroes. Terrorblade and Void come to mind for ones I'd like to do. Or Anti-Mage.
There are two kinds of people in the world; those who can count, and those who can't.

Farm the way you passed by. Trying to defend the dire top tower? Farm nc while you can and always be ready to respond to gank/defense. Moving from top to mid? Farm nc along the way. Farming in radiant forest? Farm the bottom lane too or even farm the ancient if possible. Basically you should get as much farm as possible, which involving pulling n stacking, you don't need to rely this on your support and you can do it yourself even when you are the carry.

Find balance between farming n ganking, basically farm while you can and join gank selectively because you don't want to waste your time on pointless ganks. Try to find farm if you are underfarmed. Can't farm in lane? Farm on nc. Forest are danger to farm? Just stick to the base and farm any wave that come close to your base. And in a few occasions you can gank lone hero in your forest.

For once I have made a come back by just turtling the base, the game was very bad and we basically lose every teamfight but we have turned the table around because we managed to defend our barracks and get some farm just enough to end the game.

If you are the carry of your team, don't be too hard on yourself if you are underfarmed, just do anything possible to help your team. Losing game isn't bad at all, but losing your faith is the worst thing in dota.

Before you pick you look at your team and decide what type of carry you need.

fighting or farming - late or early - dps or durable - 17% or 450% kappakeepo - pushing or killing

then that will dictate how you should be playing.

also if your hard carry with no innate farming skill but you need to go late then you first core item should be a farm accelerator. midas mael bf.
