I don't know. I would not suggest buying a Rod of Atos at all, since it doesn't offer much we can use for Tresdin. The key to starting a Duel is getting as close to the enemy as possible, which, for a much cheaper price Blink Dagger does better. So yeah :D

Forgive me for lacking knowledge at English language,

Legion Commander needs a lot of mana if you are considering this Overhelming Odds is a must in early game.

I had to tested this Rod of Atos over Blink Dagger against rookie players. And also Urn of Shadows over Soul Ring too. It was very effective.

Rod of Atos benefits:
- 25 int
- 350 hp

Active: Cripple
- cast range: 1200
- move speed slow: 60%
- duration: only 4 seconds

The problem is that I can NOT test this Rod of Atos against experienced and / or expert players because I'm new in DOTA 2. So to speak it, I'm old school player in DOTA 1.

As I mentioned this Urn of Shadows...
I don't recommend you to use this Soul Ring. Urn of Shadows can be used on your opponent before you go blink and duel. That is very effective to finish your opponent as fast as possible.

My conclusion:
I don't advise you to use this Rod of Atos over Blink in every game. Blink Dagger is far important than Rod of Atos is.

The plot thickens

He states a point . Then he refutes it himself.
Would we say its a classic????

@ Nevetz

Thanks for your DotaBuff! I can learn even more from there.

I don't say Blade Mail is bad no no, it's just that I've found that in my playstyle it isn't as effective for me. I tipically want to get as many Duels won as fastest as possible, and I tend to focus fragile heroes, even nukers, which get most affected by return damage. Since they don't deal as much right click as carries, I should worry less about deflecting their damage. It indeed is a great item, but I see it more for a front line tank. This is a more hard carry oriented guide, and as such, you need to be a bit more cautious.

Thanks!

This is my Dotabuff for reference. I play a lot LC and I was wondering how can you skip Blade Mail as Legion Commander. Most of the items it is my 1st item after Power Treads, even before Blink Dagger.

A very good guide with good reasoning behind each item.

Everyone plays heroes with their own personal style, so I am sure some people will disagree with some of your tactics but its still well thought out overall. Nice job!

My personal difference of opinion would be with blade mail. It does 2 things for legion very well.

1) Wins easy duals against hard right clickers i.e. Ursa or Huskar.
2) In late game (after legion is a bit more tanky), people trying to interfere with your dual nuke themselves. I can't tell you how many times Lina tried to Ult me during a dual with my blade mail on and she killed herself. Again, after tanky items like Heart or Satanic, when Legion can take a Lina or Lion Ult in the face and keep going, blade mail becomes huge.

Of course, it's also good against pesky range right clickers like sniper or drow. It makes them stop shooting you completely.

Just my 2 cents, but overall a great guide.

P.S. after 6.82, getting Daedalus with Hyperstone is NASTY in a dual.

I clearly see a few ways to itemize Legion.
I think that Bottle is good pickup for hardliner instead of Soul Ring, but if you're facing hard harassment and can't reach the rune at all, pick the second one.
Enemy has 2 or more squishy but fast heroes? I think solid choice would be Phase Boots into Drum of Endurance, and only after - Blink Dagger. Consider getting Blink Dagger first if enemies have good escape mechanisms.
But I agree with you that Power Treads are better in most situations than Phase Boots.
Facing some hard hitting carries who can deal good amount of damage in the early-mid game? Blade Mail could be considered as a good first item pick after your boots. Blink Dagger before Blade Mail also sounds good, but if enemy has nuke heroes instead of strong rightclickers.
And against 2 or more disablers Black King Bar should be purchased right after Blink Dagger, IMHO.
You're doing really well in the early game and have lots of gold? Rush Blink Dagger right after your Boots of Speed and may be a Bottle or Soul Ring.

As for the late game, Abyssal Blade and Daedalus became better after 6.82 patch, because stuns and crits from items also work in Duel.

Noooo! Metabee, what are u doing? I only like 2items in this game Drum of Endurance and Armlet of Mordiggian and it seems you don.t appreciate any of them. We are not friends anymore.

There is a reason why armlet is in all guides, it is a great, very cost efficient item: gives you +5 armor, +65 damage aand +25 attack speed, that you love so much, for only 2600 gold and it can save you life after a Duel if toggled correctly .. I mean come on. You build a lot of attack speed but Armlet of Mordiggian will increase your overall DPS. This being said.. cool guide. You will get my +1 though:)

Thank you, will consider it. It's just my humble opinion on the item, and thanks for positive feedback :D

FINALLY somebody read the formatting guide before starting a guide, i'm tired of seeing those long and tedious walls of text that hurt my eyes when i try to decipher the important points in a mass of words. Here is an upvote for you sir +1

A few small mistake/improvement

Your guide is pretty decent, but there is room for improvement. I feel like lots of guide jsut want to jump the item choice section without explaining gameplay. Do i farm with Legion Commander? Do i go gank 24-7? How much farm is enough and how much ganking is enough?... You gotta answer these questions for the reader. Looking forward for updates, cheers!

Thanks for positive feedback, will work on that :D

Very good guide! Detailed and has some pictures to make the wall of text look better!

I agree with Assault Cuirr*** over Desolator, but I think it belong to the reject items better. I wont even think that Deso is a decent item at all.

Not sure about Armlet of Mordiggian... its a decent item for any strenght carry, as it gave off STR as well.

I think you should be clearer on Soul Ring. You should mention it is used by STRENGHT carries, else newbies might buy it on Faceless Void anytime soon.

Decent guide overall! +1
