Lore

Magnus, the Magnoceros

The master-smiths of Mt. Joerlak agree on only a single point: that the horn of a magnoceros is more precious than any alloy. And of all such horns, the largest and sharpest belongs to the beast they call Magnus. For half a generation, Magnus took easy sport goring hunters come to claim the treasures of his kin. Each time he would return to his cave with hooves and horns stained red, until his Matriarch urged him and all their kin to seek refuge to the north beyond the shadow of the mountain. But Magnus scoffed, having never failed to defend his people. The magnoceri would stay, he decided, for a magnoceros does not believe in chance... nor does it ever change its mind. But when Mt. Joerlak erupted without warning, and half his kin perished in the fire and ash, Magnus changed his mind after all. The survivors pushed north, until they reached a blockade watched over by a hundred hunters armed with bow and steel. Magnus expected no less. He led his fiercest brothers and sisters in a charge against their enemies, and fought with a ferocity matched only by the fire-spewing mountain at his back. Meanwhile the magnoceros elders, mothers, and calves vanished into the drifts. The master-smiths are divided about what happened next. Some say Magnus reunited with his kin, while others claim he suffered mortal injuries and expired alongside the body of his Matriarch. Neither theory is correct. Magnus did vow to rejoin his kin...but only after seeking out those responsible for the eruption of Mt. Joerlak and watching them die upon his horn, for a magnoceros does not believe in chance.

- BKB removes Empower
- Slow AS

Skills - Shockwave

Skills - Empower

Skills - Skewer

Skills - Reverse Polarity

Items - Carry

Power Treads give you cheap stats and attack speed, switch str to int if you need mana for your skills.

Armlet perfectly fit your role: Dealing as much damage as possible in the seconds where your enemies are stunned. It is quite cheap by the way. Empower just buffs bonus damage from stats, what means that you should cast it after turning Armlet on. If you want you can turn it off after that if you just want to farm instead of killing heroes. Always turn it on if you want to kill somebody.

Mask of Madness is an alternative item to Armlet. You have to decide what you want more: Lifesteal or bonus damage.

Battlefury is your extremely manly cookie cutter item. It gives you a bit mana regeneration that is really needed, damage and more cleave.

Assault Cuirass gives a lot of damage and makes you tankier.

1 fact ... splash crit is just amazing.

HoT boosts your main stat by a ton. It gives you health and dmg.

In late game Treats should be replaced by Boots of Travel. More ganking + pushing.

Items - Support

Buy Arcane Boots if you need mana. It also helps heroes like Earthshaker or Tidehunter, in fact mana dependent heroes with a low mana pool.

Shivas Guard gives your team some useful slow, makes yourself tankier, and you can deal a bit damage. And you have no mana problems anymore

Scythe of Vyse is an amazing item on nearly any hero (the most just need other items more). Hex is mainly to shut down a carry but it is also very useful for ganking in mid/lategame since all of Magnus disables and slows have a high cooldown. No more mana problems and more survivability are cool, too.

Refresher Orb is a very imbalanced item on Magnus. 8 second stun are more than enough time to kill a whole team in late game.

Eul's is a very useful item that solves your mana problems. Combined with Dagger you are very hard to kill.

Pipe can be bought when you play against AoE strats, an early hood makes you quite tanky.

Mekansm is one of the most important items in the game and a must have for every support (get Mek or Pipe)

Vladimirs Offering gives you the needed mana regeneration, allows you to push faster and buffs your melee carries even more.

Blade Mail is a must have if you get focused 24/7.

Buy Drum of Endurance if you need it and nobody has actually bought it but you may skip it if there are other things which are more needed.

Just played the dota 2 test with magnus. This guys is awesome for teamfights. His ulty meshes so well with so many other heroes. Enigma don't worry that dark seer got banned cuz we got this dude. Earthshaker wanna make echo slam really effective? Call Magnus. I think personally one more point needs to be put in skewer earlier. It is a bit of a skill shot but being able to skewer that one extra person can nearly ensure the double kill midgame, which can swing the momentum into a tower or rosh. Just my opinion, otherwise the guide is solid.

I really like how you presented the skills to us, it looks really nice!

Did you make the images on your own?

Also, consider adding Shiva's Guard and Black King Bar maybe?

A positive vote from me though, good job.

This isnt a "Simple Build" lol. Nice job, it's fairly detailed and you explained it well. I love Magnus

EDIT: WTF the items descriptions are nearly exact copies of this guide here.
