Light Of The Omniknight - protect your team!

Introduction

Hello ladys and gentlemen!!!
Welcome to my first guide ever in dota...
hope you will find it helpful!

I usually play support heroes when im with my friends and i find omniknight
one of the best support heroes in the game.

lets start....

Note:
Omniknight is a support hero period! , he is not an initiator and he is not a carry...
your job is to help your team with auras, healing, mana regen and disables(situational, depands on items choice).

i saw many guides that made him a carry/ganker....wrong...

Items

Starting items:

Not much to say,
starting with ring of protaction (for basilius later on + def at start)
3x brunches (stats+ starter to wand)
and a courier

Laning phase:
first items that im buying is sage's maskso i could finish my basilius, this item is good for mana regen to both me and my team mate and provide a nice armor boost.

Next im buying magic stickand upgrades it to magic wand, this item is a life saver and good vs annoying nukers that spamm spells.

after i get those two i get soul ringas an early mana regenerate tool and boots
Now when i got all this i can start spamm heal like a boos and try to go for a kill with my lane mate if its possible.

later on i upgrade my boots to arcane boots
Post lane phase:
If every thing went well you should have arcane boots + basilius + wand + soul ring
really quick and start farming for your mekansm, i usually buy this item first after the core and than drum of endurance

Mid / late game:

Now its up to you to decide whats your team needs the most...
you lack of disablers? go for sheep stickor euls
You get focused alot?
get Linkensor heart

Skills

Not much to say about skill order...
i max heal first while having one point at repel early game and 1 point at degen aura...
after i max the heal and i get my ulti at level 6 i max out degen aura for a better hero "chase down"...

repel maximized last, but thats how i play it...
you dont need repel at max level till late game in my opinion, 1-2 points is enough...

@K1llerFa1th

armlet is a nice idea but i play omni as a full support
insted of armlet i prefer to take linkens or Vanguard for better survivability in combat...

I'd rather start off with Repel as my first skill... sorry but that thing is what makes first blood attempts against a Omniknight lane a bi*ch. I usually play my Omniknight solo though :P

I also usually max out Repel before the aura bc in the early stages (in the solo play style) I usually wait to get my core : Arcane Boots and a Soul Ring then I go around supporting my allies np. In a solo side lane you're not going to make much use of the aura anyway and a high level Repel makes you nearly impossible to gank.

I agree with most of the items, I usually get arcane, soul ring, mek and van.

I suggest you add more information about this hero in your actual guide like lanning stage tips and tricks, heroes that are very evil against him (I can tell you already that it's annoying going solo against a Silencer with this guy :P, not many ppl pose a problem though) and heroes he is very good against, weaknesses considering his skillset, early-mid-late gameplay also sometimes it's better to Repel yourself before a teamfight so you can get your ult off if they generally focus you so sometimes it's better to prioritize yourself with Repel rather than your allies.

you get a +1 since the rest of the guides I saw around here were really random, I was actually thinking of making a solo omni guide myself but now I see that it isn't needed anymore :P gj

*edit*

oh yeah, mb add force staff and necronomicon for push-orientated teams in your situational items, just a small suggestion :P

Very nice guide. Omni is one of my mains. Getting repel early and then waiting to upgrade it is a very smart decision. The extended duration on it can actually be counter productive and down right dangerous if you or the person you put it on needs a heal during the duration. Since it goes up with each level it is usually better to keep it at a lower level until you get your mechansm since that can heal through the repel. Very nice guide
