Religion/Beliefs on DotAFIRE

Hello, this is TheSofa, bringing you an important topic on DotAFIRE

First things first, I am a Christian. Got that out of the way.
Second, I've seen FleetAU being 'Jesus' and Hades being 'God' and I don't feel exactly comfortable with that.
What should we do about this?

What i would do personally is just not go to that fourm, out of sight out of mind, but if you find it enjoyable, just keep in mind when you are seeing "jesus" and "god" (hades and fleet) that it is all in good fun nd no one means anything by it.

Well, they don't mean anything by doing that, and its all just a bit of fun. However if you really don't like it, you don't have to go on the thread if you don't want :)

To be honest, I find it extremely funny that you are bothered by such a negligible thing. Jesus is a very popular name in Latin America and what? That name isn't exactly put out of context in their culture. It also has a connection to the Christianity. Would you use another name to... name them?

My advice: chill out.

P.S. Are you offended becuase of Zeus? He is the Lord of Heaven in Dota. He is also considered "father of Gods". There is also Chen's ability Hand of God. Is Chen also not right?. Omniknight also has his god - Omniscience. Hades is also an ancient Greek god, so what's the deal? Admin is a god on the forum. He can do basically whatever he wants. I am an atheist, but I don't brag about it like you did with your believes.

Look, Sofa, I am a christian myself (and I guess quite a devout one at that), but my only advice to you is to get used to it. This is the Internet, and this kind of things happen everywhere. I know that people in Dotafire doesn't do this kind of things to offend (in which case a lot of people in Internet does). We cannot assume that because we are christian that other people will also refer to our belief with respect, and just be honest here, Krwiozerca is right, how many times have we make fun of Zeus, the grand lord of Greek belief?

Of course, you can simply speak to or PM Hades and Fleet (and more in the future) about how you feel and I know that if you speak it up nicely they'll stop to do so. However, I don't think it is quite necessary since we are all adults here and everybody's entitled to their opinion, no? As a matter of fact, if you really feel so upset about it and they won't stop (people in the future), it's as easy as shutting down your computer and do something else. The thing is, IRL it's not as easy, so I really suggest you get used to it

I am a Christian. I have gone to church every sunday of my life that I can remember, and what I have to realise is that everybody has a different belief, even if said belief is lack of a belief (redundant much redundant?)

It is all in good fun, and they definitely don't mean anything wrong by it.

I'm going to assume not, and it's the same principle. We can just casually use their name here, but if we did that in their universe we would be punished for it.

I think you're reading too much into this. Hades calling himself a god was just for fun. FleetAU being Jesus is slightly less appropriate but still within reason considering the context.

Might sound like a **** but you and whomever that share the same thought need to understand context, tolerance and a joke.

This is a public forum where anyone of any race and religion are free to talk so that'll include the self-praises of calling themselves God or Jesus. If that bothers you then please consult with an adult and speak of your problems but this is definitely not a problem worth discussing or going further about. No matter your religious background, race or culture, nobody should be refrained from saying anything because that is the very definition of censoring ones freedom. Learn tolerance and if that cannot be achieved then please get out and find a forum where you want to circle-jerk about offensive stuff to YOUR religion.

If you really are uncomfortable then message the users but don't create a pointless thread that smells of circle-jerk bait.
