Dunno if this belongs here or not but is there a point to using teamspeak over steam's voice chat?

By steam chat are we referring too in game chat or steams actual voice chat between friends? Cause personally i like in game, its pretty reliable and then everyone with a mic should be able to use it, unlike teamspeak which everyone has to download and often times dont have a server to use.

I mean like either in game (push to talk) or steam group conference call. Like what is the point of getting team speak if we have this already?

its really just based on the preference of the people your playing with. Some people dont like to have to push a button for in game chat, some also just think teamspeak is better quality, its more of a pure preference thing than anything else for me at least.

Ingame has alittle bit more lag compared to teamspeak and imo it has alittle better quality.

Steam voice chat has nearly a second delay... Team-speak is really one of the best options. I would suggest skype as well. (it actually has a push-to-talk button as well) But teamspeak is really the best one when using voice chat while gaming.

There are a few teamspeak servers that you can use (for instance if your mates are in a clan or some sort and you can just use like this.
