Very well written, ET can seem like a somewhat odd hero to people not used to him, and I feel this guide really gives you a solid basis with which to learn the hero. GJ, +1 and such. Also dotameters is an amusing term.
In a dual lane with kill potential (say you have another disabler in your lane), you want to keep ancient harass to a minimum so you can have the mana for a combo. Ideally you just need your partner to give an introductory stun, and you follow with an Echo Stomp. If you can land it without the use of the ancestral spirit you get 160 damage and the stun.
In a dual lane without kill potential you are best off just harassing, picking up a sages mask as soon as you can to sustain the harass.
In an offlane you just play him like magnus. All you need to be effective is levels, so don't be greedy.
If short, the W-Q combo is very expensive, so use it conservatively. Save it for scenarios where you have a preparatory stun or have caught the enemy out of position.
Orchid is a great item but I think it's most useful on heroes that rely more on rightclick damage and who initiate from close range. For mana issues and general utility I think Shiva's Guard is the way to go.
You said that Elder Titan is versatile and good in any laning setup - this is not true. This is because his mana issue is a huge problem early game, so spamming W for harrass/last hit might work initially, but is not always as sustainable as you might think. His W-Q combo is an all-or-nothing combo, which means the drawbacks are being kited/CC'ed before you can finish the enemy is a huge issue- so if you fail, you wont have enough mana for another combo until a few minutes later (unless you grab ton of clarities or something). He's much better suited to lane with partners who can follow up well on ET's W-Q stun with a CC of their own (since ET's stun wears off when they take damage).
I quite like your skill and item build on the whole. Good reasoning behind your choices as well.
Also have you tried Orchid? Great boost to mana and attack speed. The silence and amplify damage is quite useful too. Although this is probably going toward a more semi-carrying build.
Thanks! Between when I made the guide and now, I have settled on what I think is an ideal build, which is what is up on the main tab now. 3 points in Q is enough to get off a good initiation, and levels in your ult are not that valuable. So I max the aura by level 12.
Let's be honest, Blink Dagger is something almost every character would like. But you don't need one. Your money is better spent elsewhere, like an early mech or drum.
I like this guide. I am also glad to see blink dagger in the rejected category (I just can't buy into the arguments for buying one on ET). I don't see the tab for your alternate build (stomp 2, max aura), but it is something I thought about. I'm interested to see how it works. Maybe I'll try and give it a shot in the next couple of days. Good work!
Well, my main reason for having Black King Bar in there as a spell blocker is that it's 1k cheaper. It would certainly be nice to have a Linken's Sphere, though, given how mana-hungry you are, and your need for stats. But it's really more of an item for heroes whose playstyle should put them in the middle of fights -- like Queen of Pain and Storm Spirit. Your best strength is how you can contribute from farther way!
I'd say its situational, mostly for lineups where it wouldn't make sense to build a Shiva's Guard or Scythe of Vyse as your lategame luxury manasolving item.
