Lore

Dontê Panlin the Pangolier! The men and women that make up the Nivan Gallants live a life of swordplay, chandelier swinging, and tawdry romance. And while all adhere to their creed that "A life of adventure is the only life worth living," the exploits of Donté Panlin still manage to raise the eyebrows of even the most hedonistic of swordsmen.

There is no monster he won’t slay. No creature he won’t woo. No tyrant he won’t stand against. And no noble immune to his silver tongue.

Introduction

General
Pangolier is best played as a dual or solo offlaner. Upon reaching level six, Rolling Thunder gives him a chance to play aggressively and potentially kill his laning opponents.
Due to longer cooldowns, Pangolier is not mobile in the early game. Play safely in lane. He can catch up on farm later once his abilities are maxed out.
Pangolier should always be on the move, looking for heroes to kill and paying attention to incoming teamfights, as his presence may completely break the enemy formation.
Map mobility is particularly important for Pangolier. With his short cooldowns Pangolier is almost always ready to contribute to teamfights, and can swing battles at any stage of the game (though less so before level six). Keep an eye on the map and be ready to teleport if needed.

Pros / Cons

Con
Don't pick against too much magic damage

Skills

Swashbuckle
Swashbuckle counts as four attacks, all of which can proc Heartpiercer and some attack modifiers.
Use Swashbuckle for a high chance to proc the pierce from Javelin icon.png Javelin or Monkey King Bar icon.png Monkey King Bar. Each of the 4 hits have a chance to proc it, and multiple Javelins will stack. Multiple Monkey King Bars however, won't.
Use Swashbuckle to proc stuns from Skull Basher icon.png Skull Basher and Abyssal Blade icon.png Abyssal Blade. Keep in mind that due to the cooldown of the bash on these items, it can only proc on one target.
Swashbuckle hits much harder after an enemy's armor has been negated by Heartpiercer.
Use Swashbuckle to evade area abilities, especially those with long cast animations like Split Earth icon.png Split Earth.
Use Swashbuckle to dash through impassable terrain such as over cliffs and through trees.
Use Swashbuckle to quickly pick off invisible heroes.
Use Swashbuckle to get behind enemies in fights, exploiting the delay from their turn rate.
Use Swashbuckle and Shield Crash together to instantly clear a creep wave.
Use Swashbuckle to get close enough to a target so that you can follow up the attack with Shield Crash.

Shield Crash
Shield Crash's radius is much bigger than what its visuals suggest.
Use Shield Crash to jump over terrain, surprising enemies or escaping danger.
Use Shield Crash early in fights to gain its protection as soon as possible, helping Pangolier survive longer.
Shield Crash will always hit an enemy if used right after rolling into them with Rolling Thunder.
Leveling Shield Crash early not only increases your survivability in the face of heavy harassment in lane or ganks, but also gives Rolling Thunder more potential burst damage at level 6.
Using Shield Crash right before the end of Rolling Thunder will extend its duration for the time it takes Pangolier to land, allowing you to catch up to and stun a fleeing enemy who's just in front of you.

Rolling Thunder
Take advantage of Rolling Thunder's low cooldown to initiate ganks and team fights.
Rolling Thunder's spell immunity makes it useful to escape dangerous situations.
Cast Rolling Thunder behind a tree to roll out from behind it and surprise your enemies.
Use Swashbuckle to dash to a safe location (such as inside trees) before casting Rolling Thunder.
Alternatively, use Swashbuckle right on top of the targets to proc Heartpiercer's movement speed slow, lowering chance of enemies escaping from Rolling Thunder.
All items can be used during Rolling Thunder. Examples include:
Blink Dagger icon.png Blink Dagger fully works and preserves Pangolier's orientation. Blink onto an enemy after its stun has worn off to hit/stun them a second time.
Diffusal Blade 1 icon.png Diffusal Blade slows the target to keep them in the path of Rolling Thunder.
Eul's Scepter of Divinity icon.png Eul's Scepter of Divinity's Cyclone keeps Pangolier's position, allowing Rolling Thunder to stun for a second time.
Town Portal Scroll icon.png Town Portal Scroll lets Pangolier teleport away without being interrupted.
Shadow Blade icon.png Shadow Blade can be useful for ganking, as it keeps Pangolier invisible while he rolls over the enemy team. Remember that invisibility ends if Pangolier uses Shield Crash.
Remember that Pangolier cannot make sharp turns during Rolling Thunder, and may continuously bump into walls when rolling in narrow space.
Use Rolling Thunder on enemies near walls, as bumping off the walls will land extra hits on them. Enemies cannot avoid getting bumped if Pangolier is right over them when their stun wears off.
Narrow areas such as ramps, the river, and Roshan's lair allow Pangolier to stunlock enemies by continuously bouncing into them.
Bump and stun enemies before using Shield Crash to give them less time to react and avoid Pangolier. Shield Crash's large radius guarantees a hit when Pangolier lands.
Shield Crash must be used at least 150 units before an obstacle to jump over it.
Since Pangolier will briefly reverse direction when bumping into a wall, using Shield Crash too late will cause Pangolier to jump backwards.

Thank you for reading! Enjoy rolling and swashbuckling 😂
