IMPORTANT!!!!! Lifesteal stacks with skadi and venom orb, whereas it doesn't with diffusal, all the better reason to get a skadi over diff heart.
Diffisal blade and vanguard vs Skadi
The disadvantages of a diffusal blade over a skadi are less tank and mana and intelligence and the fact that you will sell it once you use up the charges, and the vanguard once late game comes Personally I love skadi as it lets you take fights that otherwise you would not even consider taking due to the tank, and the permaslow. Your illusions will also benefit greatly from the tank.
The advantages to the diffusal blade and vanguard are, slightly more damage, hp regen And the fact that the your illusions attack proc the orb.
If you get a vitality booster straght up, the tank it gives is less than half of that of a skadi.
Phase boots vs treads
Phase boots let you last hit easier, also gives better chase. no other explanation needed.
Maelstrom
Sure the procs don't benefit illusions, but it sill is a farming item (granted it's gold gain increase is much slower than radiance)
Why I love skadi so much
It lets you tank when you have only 2 items, and not sacrifice anything but illusion orb.
If you are expected to fight before you can get your radiance and Skadi up, don't pick spectre, also don't pick her if the enemy has lots of strong pushing potential in the early-mid game that your team cannot counter without you haunting in. Don't pick spectre hwen you will not have a babysitter or two in lane.
I rarely EVER use the last 2 builds, simply because if you are required to fight early, there are a lot of better carries for that.
Spectre is the hardest carry in the game, bar none. She carries harder than medusa and lifestealer. Pick her when you can rice for the first 30 mins of the game without risk of repeated successful ganks or getting raxed. Pick spectre when there is an np on the opposing team. You candagger out of his trees, and quickly tp haunt to him right after he tp's in, grabbing an easy kill. Also pick her if the team can apply pressure on the opposing team, allowing spectre to farm to victory.
