The Modest Sniper

Beginning

Okay, Sniper is probably one of the most underrated carry heros in the game. We know this. Let me tell you how to not to be.

Sniper is easy to learn, and hard to master. Play mid if you can, you're gonna need that farm. Just a brief explanation of the skills if you didn't already know, and some tactics.

So sniper is the hero I play the most, he's fun and makes my team and the other team rage with Assassinate. Shrapnel is usually best to start with, it helps with farming and can annoy your enemies in your lane. At least early game. Late game is more of a minion farm and slow effect for team fights. Or if you're running away, place it right in front of you. You'll need it, since sniper is pretty slow moving. And like any AoE, it can help take stealth away from the gankers.

Headshot is an awesome skill, especially when chasing down enemies. Or helping your teammate escape. It's not that useful really though until mid game once the team fights start happening. So don't waste your early skill points on it. This is also the reason you want attack speed. Getting tons of small stuns off to stutter your enemies movements can help a lot when chasing and in team fights

Your bread and butter, Take Aim. Makes you the most positionable hero in the game. It allows you to attack towers out of the tower range and annoy enemies from afar. You can take down half an enemies health before they can even get to you. And again, since sniper is slow moving, those few extra range ticks might just keep you alive longer.

Now, for the thing that make everyone rage besides Zeus' ult. Assassinate is really helpful because is does give true sight on the targeted enemy. And deal massive damage as well, good-by Lina. Thank's for standing still.

If you find yourself not getting places, use your last inventory slot for phase boots, or if the fights are lasting too long and you need more mana, the void sphere is for you.

Pros/Cons

Pros:

    Fast pusher
    Can drop enemies like flies
    Annoying as all hell
    High damage ult
    Long attack range

Cons:
    Slow
    Squishy
    You're stunned, you're done
Takes a bit to get used to positioning

Positioning

Location, location, location. This is all sniper is, you want to be as far away from the team fight as possible and still being able to do damage. This is where it can get tricky.

Placing yourself, yes of course right in the middle of the team fight, cause we all do that. No, don't be that guy. Please, please don't. Behind your team and off to the side a little, being off to the side will give you some evasion from AoE or Earth Shaker's line'o'stun and hurt. It will also give you the possibility to run away if need be. If two of your teammates go down and the other team is heading your way, book it, and pop and shrapnel just in case. And remember, you're squishier than that tree you just nommed with your tango. So placement is key. And if you can be, be on top of a ridge if the team fight is in the river or behind some trees. The more they can't get to you, the more you can hurt them.

So Why?

So why make a straight Attack Damage and Attack Speed Sniper? Because it works. Because you can do a whole lot more damage to them before they can even see you. You don't need to be able to gank with shadow blade. Or Blink Dagger, you need to be as far away as possible whilst still doing stuff. And I believe this build is the way to go.
