Starting items:
- soul ring recipe is a must, since you can purchase all the other items in the sideshop, which you will be camping by for the majority of the game.
Early game:
- First item you get is your soul ring since you already have nice regeneration in your web, and soulring will help this. But the main reason to get it is: You can spam your spiderlings to your heart's content. But the soulring will be sold later as you by then have orchid of malevolence.
- Getting your poor man's shield will make basically make you invinsible to kill in the early game, but will later be sold.
Mid game:
- Once you have your orchid of malevolence all your mana problems will be solved. Once you have orchid of malevolence sell your soul ring
- BKB is very important as people will probably have a gem by now, getting your BKB will protect you against most incomming stuns. Once you have your BKB sell your poor man's shield.
Late game:
- Getting Vladimir's offering is great for your spiderlings.
- Butterfly will give you remaining much needed stats.
- Getting your Spin web is essential to have any lane presence in the early to mid game.
- Getting your Spawn spiderlings is your bread and butter throughout the game. They will be used to push towers, protect you from single target spells, because it will be a bit harder to hit you and will totally block pudge's hook.
- Once you hit level four get Incapacitating bite as you and your lane partner should be ganked in conjunction with your spawn spiderlings nuke.
- You get your ultimate, Insatiable hunger at level the standard levels and should be used to gank, push towers and regen on enemy creeps.
Partners who are great to lane with Broodmother are:
- Nobody, broodmother is a great solo sidelane
- Lich, Crystal maiden and Lion or any other hero with good stuns are good laneable with broodmother as your Incapacitating bite slows heroes down after the stun and you can finish off fleeing heroes with your Spawn spiderling nuke.
