This guide is based on a late-game oriented, hard farming carry Naga Siren, which is my favourite way to play her. With this guide you should just be farming until you have at least 3 of your core items. It is a simple way to play her but once you farm up enough she becomes one of the hardest carries in the game.
Among the high-sworn of the Slithereen Guard there is a solemn vow oft repeated before battle: No Slithereen may fail. In truth, these words are equal parts oath and enforceable covenant, for those who fall short of their duty are banished from the order. To fail is to be other than Slithereen.
Once most highly esteemed of her race, Slithice for many years commanded a battalion of her fellows, using her formidable voice as her greatest weapon. Powerful, sinuous, serpentine, she led her deadly Guard in defense of the Deep Ones, and the great wealth of the sunken cities. But in the final battle of Crey, her forces were driven back by a marauding army of levianths intent on finding tribute for their god Maelrawn. After the long and bloody onslaught, as the bodies were cleared from the sunken halls, a single jeweled chalice was found missing from the trove. Of her hundred Guard, only a handful survived, but their bravery and sacrifice were of little consequence. What mattered was that treasure was taken. Honor destroyed. And so Naga Siren was cast out. Banished to search for the stolen chalice. Though she might add a hundred times her weight to the golden trove, she is doomed to live apart until that day she returns that which was taken. For no amount of gold is equal in honor to the honor she lost.
Creates three images of Naga Siren under her control.
Mana CostMANA COST: 70/80/90/100
ABILITY: NO TARGET
DURATION: 30 / 30 / 30 / 30
BONUS INCOMING DAMAGE: 500% / 400% / 300% / 200%
ILLUSION DAMAGE: 30% / 35% / 40% / 45%
What makes Nagas' late game and farming potential so potent. Spawns 3 illusions which can be used for farming with radiance and being terrifying once you get some items up.
Interrupts the target and traps them in place, preventing movement or blinking.
Mana CostMANA COST: 90/100/110/120
ABILITY: UNIT TARGET
AFFECTS: ENEMY UNITS
DURATION: 2 / 3 / 4 / 5
Ensnare that goes through magic immunity, amazing spell that can be used for securing kills or shutting down BKB targets late game. Note that this can be used on enemy couriers if you see one.
The Naga Siren and her images hit all nearby units with a damaging wave of water that lowers armor for 8 seconds.
Mana CostMANA COST: 80/90/100/110
ABILITY: NO TARGET
DAMAGE: 130 / 160 / 190 / 220
ARMOR REDUCTION: 2 / 3 / 4 / 5
AOE nuke that reduces armour, if setting up kills with song try and position yourself to hit as many enemies with this as possible. Also useful for farming as your illusions will all riptide when you do.
Song of the Siren
All enemies in range of the Naga Siren are put into a magical stasis where they cannot act or be attacked. Using Song of the Siren again will end the duration early.
Mana CostMANA COST: 100/100/100
ABILITY: NO TARGET
RADIUS: 1250 / 1250 / 1250
DURATION: 7 / 7 / 7
One of the most powerful spells in the game, it has so much potential. Best used for escaping ganks and for setting up teamfight combos. Another good use of song is to push the enemies base until enemy heroes come to kill you then just song and tp out.
This decision is not too difficult, 4 out of 5 games I will buy radiance as soon as possible. Radiance lets you farm extremely fast and safely whilst keeping all the lanes pushed out, i.e. rat dota. The only times I ever don't buy radiance is if my team is already really far ahead in kills and I will go straight into diffusal and manta to start killing earlier.
The most important item I need to explain. The burn effect of radiance is active on all your illusions, this is what makes it such a good farming item for naga. You can spawn illusions with mirror image, then send each illusion to a different lane or jungle camp where the burn effect will melt through creeps, allowing you to maximise the amount of farm you get across the whole map the micro required for this is very simple and requires little practice. Sending the illusions consistently into lanes also makes it very difficult to push just one lane in because then their other lanes will get pushed in. If you get radiance, get it before treads even, then start farming with it. The burn effect is also a decent tool when fighting enemies.
Solid boot, gives stats to illusions.
Gives all your illusions the mana drain effect, making them deal extra damage as well as depleting your enemies mana pools. Also gives some nice stats and a good active to use for dispelling debuffs or for slowing enemies. Upgrade to diffusal 2 when you have used all the charges.
Gives great stats and adds 2 more illusions to your army. Can be activated to escape silences or just have more illusions to deal a ton of damage. Once you have diffusal and manta you start being scary.
After Manta you can choose either butterfly or heart. Butterfly gives evasion and extra damage to all your illusions.
Heart of tarrasque
Heart gives loads of tankiness to you and all your illusions.
Once you are six slotted you can sell your radiance and buy a daedalus for even more damage.
Boots of travel
Upgrade your boots when you feel comfortable to do so, they give good movespeed and let you splitpush if needed.
Eye of Skadi
Provides fantastic stats for your illusions, replace diffusal blade with this once you have a daedalus as it will provide more damage for your illusions.
