Lucifer is the ultimate counter to just about everything. Doom's claim to fame is his fantastic ult, which renders any caster hero useless and can destroy dpsers who rely on turning BKB on and/or a lifesteal item. Apart from that, he is one of the fastest farmers in the game (protip - pop into the jungle and eat something real quick when your lane is pushed) and can take part in insanely powerful ganks (that depend on the enemy's level).
Consider saving a skill point instead of spending it if your opponent is in the Lvl?Death bonus damage level.
Most guides rush the radiance. I feel a vanguard before hand has a better feel. I'd rather live through a fight than be a one hit wonder doom machine.
