What is this hero?

Hello I enjoy the hero naix very much and decided to create a guide to share my success with the hero. Bear with me as this is my first guide. Naix or lifestealer is a melee carry which utilizes very high lifesteal to last in teamfights and exchange blow for blow hits with other dps carries. At the start of the game you have either the choice of heading off to the jungle or stay in lane. I know what your thinking, isnt jungle always better off? I will explain the reasoning in a later chapter. Lifestealer is a hero that involves some courage during the laning phase, play very aggressive but also make smart choices.

Skills

Rage: Your bread and butter skill,a 75 attack speed boost with magic immunity? Pretty sweet deal. What do you need to know about this skill? You need to know when you should pop the rage as a misuse of the spell can result in a teamfight loss or you dying. Use it if you are slowed, see a projectile coming at you in mid air, if you are in danger, etc. just think of it as a bkb with a 12 second cool down. It should be used in combination with your e open wounds, don't jump the gun, wait until you get close enough to hit him, then use the rage, you'll be surprised at how many more hits you'll throw up.

Feast: This is his lifesteal skill, pretty self explanatory, use it to harass and leech back life. Take note that a portion of the life stolen is turned into damage, it's why this skill makes you hit so hard on full hp heroes.

Open Wounds: Probably how your going to get solo kills, 70% slow them, get close, rage, get a kill, so easy. If your jungling, open wounds a creep and it gives you 15% life leech I believe at level 1. 70% tapering slow wow!

Infest: Another amazing skill, pretty useful for healing back to full if your jungling, just eat a big creep and bam instant 1k hp regen. Good escape skill as well, if your screwed infest an enemy creep at full health preferably, and just stay in there, they cant kill the creep. OR you can pop out regen some hp and make a reversal, but don't be stupid it's better to make it out alive than exchange your life for some awsome high action thriller death. I'd usually risk popping out if i have an my first two items, armlet and maelstorm.

To jungle or not to jungle

Regardless of jungle or not, I always begin the game with 1 tango, 1 salve, 2 branches, and 1 stout shield as well as leveling the passive lifesteal. If you know you are going up against a solo hero, jungle shouldn't even be an option tell your laning partner to give you solo exp and farm. So you are solo against someone else, what the heck do you do? Very simple, last hit like usual, but if the other player gets near the creep wave, give him an auto attack or 2. If it is a melee hero, keep him far enough so he cant last hit. For a ranged hero you must be bold and ignore the creep wave and harass relentlessly, this usually results in them being pushed out of lane and you can sit comfortably in front of the creep wave and free farm while giving them another hit or so if he gets close. You don't need to over do it, I usually back off after doing a good amount of damage or force them to pop a spell. Keep in mind this at level 1 with feast. You should be getting almost all the last hits and if you are playing it correctly, I usually have my armlet by the 12 minute mark along with treads. Hey but what about if its a duel lane? I prefer to lane all the time but if this is the case you have the option of jungling which I will include a section about. If you are going against duel ranged supports, it may be a problem, you will have to play passive and grab any last hits as your lane partner probably wont be able to do very much. Other than that, a melee and ranged lane shouldnt be a problem and you may have enough room to harass with the method used in the solo lane. This concludes the laning choice you have with this hero.

Jungling Guide

HOLY MOTHER ITS AN ALL IN 1 GUIDE!! As I said before I really love lifestealer lane, but sometimes going for the woods will yield the best farm in a situation. Say you are getting punked by some dual range heroes and you can't get a last hit without losing a third of your hp! What a conundrum, I have 2 creeps per minute and i'll have no late game WHAT WILL I DO? Oh right this is also a great jungle hero! If your jungling right off the bat here is how you do it. Start out with small camps so you don't have to waste all your regen, and remember STACK the camps when you can. I mean for the love of god I see junglers who just keep killing the camp at say 5:55. ARGG!! It hurts me when you don't stack you can get potentially double the camp gold/exp yield and not have to wait a minute for it to respawn. Another trick choke point jungling i'm not entirely sure how to do this myself so i'll do my best to explain it. You eat a tree and there will be just enough space for the only 1 creep to attack you at a time. And oh please please please for the love of god don't get hand of midas. You think i'm crazy but i can explain myself. Ok whats the cost of that item...1900 gold I think? The goal is to get armlet under 15 minutes so you can start to really pick off heroes and pick up the farm with the extra hero gold kills. Arlmlet is 2600 gold, 700 off from a hands of midas, only about 3 minutes of farming gap! Armlet is an item that get worse every minute you don't have it. At barely over 10min your a monster with 350gpm holding the armlet, you have the power! Gank! Pick off any squishy hero that overextends! Your gold will go through the roof and you will have maelstorm by 20minutes. This is how my game goes without hands of midas I am not kidding you, I will even show you a replay if you don't believe me. OK lets go through this again, fast treads, then armlet, wrecking ball! Oh hello can't hear you defending midas over the announcer screaming killing streaks and multi-kills.

Mid Game

So if you have followed my guide, you will have treads, armlet, and maybe enough for a component of maelstorm at 15minutes, the time I consider where mid game has begun. This is where team fights really really matter and you should look for any indications, you want to be in almost all the fights because you are the dps, you are melting people left and right, I seriously doubt any hero will have your level of farm at this time. Here are the priorities, kill the soft heroes first, slow and then kill them quickly, it is now 4v5 and you have the advantage then look for who is doing the damage or being annoying like stunning, slowing, etc. I really don't know it is your judgement on what hero to focus, just remember to pick off soft heroes first and never focus the tank. And eventually if you focus correctly, you will have wiped them or won the fight, bagging a few kills and assists. This is only if everything goes right though, it is still possible to lose a teamfight anything can happen, you can blow your rage and die, get out dpsed by god knows what, get hurt too much early, etc. If your going to die, hide in a friendly hero. Maybe come back out as the fight is coming to an end to deal some more damage.

Late Game

Not much to say, never stop farming for more than a minute, go from teamfight to jungle/lane, get most of your last hits, its ok to miss a few I probably miss 20 or so every game. Last hit towers whenever you can, make items in that order in the build above, and if you have at least deso with your other items by the 35minute mark I think it should be smooth sailing. Be wary that naix can be outcarried! Chaos Knight, Void, Phantom Lancer, and Drow to name a few will absolutely destroy you late game, maybe drow is less likely since she is squishy and you'll probably be picking her off now and then. There is also a little trick called the naix bomb you jump in a very mobile hero such as storm and bounty to name a few and they go into the middle of the enemy team. you burst dealing 400 magic damage while you fly out in a rage, absolutely wrecking havoc, they will be confused and you'll probably have killed 1 or more heroes as your team engages after you.

Pros and Cons

Pros-You have the most recovery poential in the game, 7% leech per hit mixed with 30% more from open wounds as well as consume? If you play the skills correctly its pretty hard to get yourself killed. Your magic immune for like 6 seconds, and you attacks a hell of a lot fast, what more could you ask for?

Cons-You need a good early game, if you get a late armlet, lets say at 20 minutes your potential really dies, the other team will probably have the same amount of farm as you and this is very bad, the goal of this hero is to out farm everyone with your crazy killing and farming capability and dominate the mid game to keep up or stay ahead into the late game.

Items

Here I will give an explanation for all the possible items of lifestealer. You do not have to go by my guide, this is just how I play the hero, experiment and see what goes for you!

Treads: I just prefer the item, you can go phase too but to me that's just weird, you dont need the speed boost and you don't need the extra damage either.

Armlet: My favorite item in the game, 25 str and dmg boost is really great, an early one too gives you so much killing power. Don't forget to armlet troll and toggle it back on the last second to avoid death.

Maelstorm: I like it since the lightning procs a lot with the attack speed, gives a nice bonus damage capability and I upgrade it later.

Desolator: Probably where your main damage is coming from, minus armor while you attack with something around 0.4 attack speed while hitting hard does wonders.

Assault Cuirass: Pretty good item as well, nice armor boost with minus armor debuff to go along with that desolator, oh did i mention it also gives 55 attack speed too?

Basher: Your going to perma stun with this bad boy with the attack speed your hitting at.

Abyssal Blade: Free really long stun to kill anyone you want.

Mjolinir: I probably spelled it wrong, attack speed boost and procs if your hit too.

Hand of Midas: Hey don't get the item, its a total waste, you probably get the same or higher amount of gpm/xpm while doing heavy damage to the other team with that fast armlet and farming at the same time without the dumb item.

Heart of Tarrasque?: I'm running out of ideas, makes you pretty much unkillable I think.

Blink Dagger: I don't know its just an idea, maybe blink and then slow instead of risking them run away when they see you?

About Midas

What the hell BangBangWang are you going to let the wonderful dota community guilt you into saying its good? No, I will never use it on naix but I know people will ignore it and leave spam in the comments so here it is a jungle naix hands of midas mini guide.[/img]Here as you CAN see, no midas lifestealer is not bad. 8k gold leftover with maxed out level at 50 minutes.
Hands of Midas life stealer
1)Buy quelling blade, Stout shield, 1 Salve
2)Farm until you get midas, don't forget to stack
3)If you have wards look out for ganks, they'll probably try to kill you in jungle.
4)Target big camp creeps for a lot of gold and exp
5)I'd stay in jungle for at least 30 minutes unless I really had to leave for a fight
Eventually you're big enough to leave and do some heft damage.

Conclusion

Ok well, that pretty much sums it up, this guide focuses a lot on early game because that is what naix needs to have an impact on the game. It transitions to mid game, where he should be doing the most work and damage. Remember don't be a coward and hands of midas is not an ideal item. Now go as there are lives to be a taking. I hope this guides helps and thanks for reading! Helpful criticism is welcomed.
