In-Depth Guide to Spirit Breaker

Introduction

Spirit Breaker is obviously good in pubs, but rarely people take in serious play. This is because of his not-so-good late-game potential as well as being countered by enemy wards.

But with this guide you can be confident in any type of games, in different roles as well.

Please read it till the end until you judge it as a bad guide.

Thank you in advance, hope it helps you in your games. :) I have 80% win rate on Spirit Breaker out of around 100 games, so I know what I am talking about.

Specific Tips

Some people have said, that following items are good on Spirit Breaker:

1) Armlet - It's not bad if you can use it well. I personally don't like to play with armlet but it can definitely enhance your game-play if you have a good farm. The first core is obviously Mask of Madness and then I would go for Black King bar to ensure I am not stunned/slowed to death. After that Crystalus/Daedalus just gives more damage. And in team fights you need sustained damage, not charging, killing one hero and running back with armlet toggle.

2) Yasha - It isn't worth it as Mask of Madness already gives you enough movement speed.

3) Aganim's Scepter - If you are more into ganking single heroes, then get this. I doubt this gives enough to consider it in team fights despite the stun affecting certain small radius. Get this if you have big advantage and just want to finish off squishy(and underfarmed) heroes fast and then finish the game fast as well. In games where both teams are doing fine, Scepter is just a bad pickup.

4) Assault Cuirass - I think it's a brilliant item. You have BKB, now go for armor and more attack speed. The more attacks you make, more bashes you do. Definitely good pick-up for team fights.

5) Heart of Tarrasque - Lot of people like it, but this is not a core item. You need lot of damage until your BKB wears off! Get Daedalus first, then go for this. You need to be useful in team fights after charge+ulti.

Early and Mid-game Tips

Some people might call it stupid to for boots first. But it really helps you in lane. Your bash does more damage as well. Spirit breaker doesn't suffer when it comes to last hits, or armor, or health. So I don't see reason not to go for boots first.

Next is picking Charge at level 3. Unless you are sure that you can get kills in lane by charging, just don't go for it. Just be peaceful for a moment. Starting global charges at level 1 or 2 will cost you tons of levels and farm. Wait till level 6 to make sure those charges are efficient.

Also, never charge someone across the map just for harass. You are losing farming/leveling time for putting someone to half health and also putting yourself under risk. Save charge for the best moment.

And keep in mind that people like to fool spirit breaker into charging them. If you see only one hero at creeps and other enemy heroes are not visible on map, think twice before charging them.

AND REMEMBER, let of players like to call SB "early-game ganker hero, useless in late-game" who does nothing late-game. So get BKB and other core items early to prove them otherwise!
