EAT FACES WITH URSA

Introduction

This guide is for a farming Ursa in the safelane with a babysitting support. He is not particularly strong late game compared to harder carries like Anti-Mage or Phantom Lancer, but he really shines well in the mid game with a bit of farm. Once you have some levels and just a few items up you can manfight anyone since Ursa has some of the highest single target dps in the game. You should be looking to get kills in the early to mid game and snowball off of that. Ursa is also the best hero to solo roshan with fury swipes which can provide you a nice gold and xp boost if you do it early as well as a free Aegis. All of Ursas' damage comes from his abilities and not from items, which is what makes him so potent early on and with a good support like a crystal maiden or a shadow shaman you should be able to get a kill early on.

Ulfsaar the Warrior is the fiercest member of an ursine tribe, protective of his land and his people. During the long winters, while the mothers sleep and nurse their cubs, the males patrol the lands above as tireless, vigilant defenders of their ancient ways. Hearing dim but growing rumors of a spreading evil, Ulfsaar headed out beyond the boundaries of his wild wooded homeland, intending to track down and destroy the threat at its source, before it could endanger his people. He is a proud creature with a bright strong spirit, utterly trustworthy, a staunch ally and defender.

Ability overview

Earthshock

Ursa slams the earth, causing a powerful shock to damage and slow all enemy units in a nearby area for 4 seconds.
MANA COST: 75/75/75/75
COOLDOWN: 6

ABILITY: NO TARGET
DAMAGE: MAGICAL
DAMAGE: 90 / 140 / 190 / 240
RADIUS: 385
SLOW: 25% / 35% / 45% / 55%

Always use this when you initiate on an enemy as the slow will allow you to get a lot more auto attacks off to stack fury swipes. 1 point in this early is good enough as the slow duration stays the same.

Overpower

Using his skill in combat, Ursa gains increased attack speed for a number of subsequent attacks.
MANA COST: 45/55/65/75
COOLDOWN: 10

ABILITY: NO TARGET
ATTACKS: 3 / 4 / 5 / 6
BONUS SPEED: 400 / 400 / 400 / 400

Gives huge attack speed for a few attacks, use it whenever you are killing people to completely burst them down.

Fury Swipes

Ursa's claws dig deeper wounds in the enemy, causing consecutive attacks to the same enemy to deal more damage. If the same target is not attacked after 15 seconds, the bonus damage is lost. Fury Swipes is a Unique Attack Modifier, and does not stack with other Unique Attack Modifiers.

ABILITY: PASSIVE
DAMAGE: PHYSICAL
RESET TIME: 15
RESET TIME (ROSHAN): 6
DAMAGE PER ATTACK: 15 / 20 / 25 / 30

Combos well with fury swipes as each consecutive attack does more damage, increases you burst capabilities. This is how you solo roshan so easily as swipes stack indefinitely.

Enrage

Ursa goes into a frenzy, gaining a percentage of his current health as bonus damage. Lasts 15 seconds.
MANA COST: 0/0/0
COOLDOWN: 25

ABILITY: NO TARGET
HEALTH TO DAMAGE: 5% / 6% / 7%

Costs 0 mana and gives you a bunch of extra damage, always use it when fighting or farming.

Item justification

Phase boots

Perfect boot, increases damage and the active is so essential for chasing people down.

Vladimirs offering

Absolute core, good armour, damage and lifesteal aura. Go and fight Roshan as soon as you finish building this.

Blink dagger

You need an item for initiating and chasing down enemies, I much prefer blink dagger over shadow blade. Blink is much better for chasing enemies and positioning yourself faster, it has a shorter cooldown, it costs less and now has 0 mana cost. Whereas shadow blade is completely counter by sentries or a gem, you also don't really benefit from the bonus attack speed.

Shadow blade

Works if you really prefer shadow blade, I just much prefer blink, up to you to decide.

Black king bar

I always build this after blink on Ursa, it makes you absolutely unstoppable in team fights and you can completely wreck enemies. It also instils fear into you enemies, who wouldn't be afraid of a giant gold bear. Always get this item unless the enemy has literally no CC.

Skull basher

Goes really well with Ursas' huge attack speed and getting those bashes in is super useful in being able to stack up fury swipes on an enemy. Can also be built into an abyssal blade later on.

Heart of Tarrasque

Increases tankiness and damage from your ultimate, solid late-game pick up.

Abyssal blade

Increases damage and gives you a much needed stun that goes through magic immunity.

Daedalus

Increases your DPS even more if you have an item slot free.
