I don't consider myself pro but just like to share my bit. This build has got me off well and i will keep it a short and hopefully clear enough guide. *PS: it is not as good as many of the guides here which i read and respect alot.
My guide in general is more suited for lazy readers...which sometimes im guilty of too. But of course there is no easy way out but to practice, make mistakes and improve.
Hope you like this.
Unlike most build (tango, salve, clarity). I almost always buy my boots right after i get the courier. CM is fragile and i need her to be able to run from ganks while doing lane control and harass.
I gave the first skill point to Crystal Nova because i can spam it 3 times to harass enemy before i run out of mana and by then will just nice be able to get the 2nd skill point on Arcane Aura.
This allows me to give allies some regen as well as making sure i have enough mana to spam my skill 1 and 2.
At CM level 3 i will get frostbite and start leveling frostbite asap to get kills with my laning partner.
I will also buy the occasional ward to avoid haters complaining that i don't do my job as a support. But usually after i start getting kills, they stop asking me to ward. In my view, be it any hero that i play, i always believe i should buy my own wards. As such i rarely ask people who play support to buy wards. (I mean if u know Riki / Weaver / Bounty is hanging around your lane...just get the sentry yourself. Much efficient and faster)
*Note that CM can control lane quite well on her own as well as long as you stay near the tower and spam your skill to control creeps. Don't put yourself to far from tower if alone as you will be easily picked.
As i mentioned. This guide makes CM a semi carry and support. Therefore my practice is right after i have my tranquil boots and nulls talisman or bracer, i rush my Aghanim Scepter. Rule of thumb i practice is for every one item (there is 4 items needed to build AS) i buy, the next item will be wards. Then i save up for the next AS item build.
In mid-game, stick to your carry and in team ganks, never be the first to dive in. Just stay close by and aim to cast frostbite at their tanker (e.g. Axe, Tide, Tiny) or most irritating (e.g. sniper, necro, riki). Right after, get ready to ulti.
Take note of heroes with disable as they will always wait for your ulti to break chanelling. Heroes like Blood and Spirit Breaker for example will normally come at you when you start your ulti. If you do have such heroes in the enemy team, get BKB first instead of AS.
Learning when to ulti at the right time takes practice and you will get better after some practice. The best time to ulti wo BKB is when all your heroes have their own enemy heroes to target. If not, just find your tanker hero and hide behind him before opening your ulti to make sure you have some survivability.
After ulti, if any enemy hero is making the run, use your first skill (Crystal Nova) to help slow and let your team carry get the kill.
To help in late game in giving some extra damage, building a dagon is good for that explosive burst after your ulti to finish a tanky enemy hero.
Alternatively if you want a tankier build. Go for Shivas Guard.
That's all for my short guide. If it works for you do share with me. I welcome any feedback good or bad. Thanks!
