Introduction

Ok so I'm not a pro but Chaos Knight is my favorite hero and I'd just like to share my guide with the rest of the Dota population.

I play Chaos Knight as a ganker and in some cases I like to escape the Chaos/Rift-both-maxed-at-level-8 stereotype and also try to get a gank in the early minutes. I mean why not. Everyone will say that you'll have to play conservatively but sometimes this can get boring. I'm not offering any real innovations here and I'm sure that people have already tried these tactics but hey why not?

Chapter Title

Pros

Can get tanky later on, especially with an army of illusions.
Good starting speed.
Good starting armor.
Can play as carry depending on items/build.
If you get lucky you can shut down pretty the vast majority of carries regardless of how fed they are.
Devastating W-Q-W combo but also Q-W-Q combo (with Soul Ring)
The more illusions the merrier.
Can dominate early-mid game with 2 items. (Treads + Drums)
Loves squishy opponents.
One of the best non-ultimate stun+critical in the game.


Cons

Weak at early levels without spammable spells.
Mana pool drains very quickly.
Weak to INT or mana stealing heroes early game.
Easy to get carried away trying to gank early game.
Weak against harassment by ranged heroes during lanes.
Phantasm illusions weak to AOE spells. (Lich's ultimate for example)
You will become the prime target more often than not.
No inherent escape mechanism, can use Stun or Phantasm but you should be using them offensively but better than nothing!
