Zeus is considered both a semi-carry and a support, but supports need to be able to stun/silence/slow an enemy combatant in order to be of any help. Zeus has no stun or silence or even a slow, so he has no use for trying to support.
In that regard, I changed Zeus into a semi- or hard carry, ganking lanes and starting team fights with Chain Lightning and Lightning Bolt, and using my Thundergod's Wrath to mop up the survivors. Unfortunately, many times the ulti results in multiple killsteals, whether intentional or not, and many teammates will hate you for it.
It's helpful to have a Bloodseeker on your side, so that his Thirst will reveal weak opponents running away to heal no matter where they are on the map. This is another instance when Thundergod's Wrath would come in handy.
Some teammates believe Zeus cannot carry, and they will ask you to initiate the fight with your ulti to weaken every enemy. I personally wouldn't do this until I got my refresher orb, so that I could do a double ulti when the need arises.
