Balanar is a natural ganker. He needs to be aggressive and rack up many kills at night (especially the first night) in order to make his presence felt.
Get crippling fear earlier if trying to gank blinkers or if your silence is otherwise needed (beware of mana issues though).
Spam Darkness during the night. It stops the clock, so casting it more increases the proportion of the game that's at night.
Void has a ministun. Use it to cancel TPs
