The number one reason that I truly love Abaddon is that he is a massive wild card in a game. He can be a tanky support (When I run Vlads and Heart) His shield and Ulti can come in real handy in a team fight and his passive (given that you have enough farm the enemy will always have a disadvantage when going 1v1 against you. Any guys that play Abaddon, how do you set up him up?

I dont build heart on him since that doesnt really contribute to the team. I will probably go mek, vlads if needed and hex as luxury.

I build heart because once you have it, your team can push one lane and you have the capability to solo push another because unless someone hits you, your regen is higher than the damage the tower can provide. Also, if you buy a sange or sange and yasha, you can use the slows and bonus damage(from yasha agility) to be an effective carry because people cannot run and you can right click/mist coil them to death.

I swear, if only i get $5 everytime people picks Abaddon and plays carry (AKA every single freaking game) i'll be rich.
Even though we already have 3 carries. And of course the only other hero that can support decently just have to play carry.

Abbadon is not a hero that should be pushing alone, he should be behind an actual (semi)carry and keeping him alive forever.
Every hero with a heart can push alone while being attacked by the tower.

Abbadon can be either support or a carry either is legit. In my opinion he's best as a support, seriously there are few better mek carriers. For a bit of tank sange and yasha can be ok instead of the extra 1400 for a heart. Not many heroes that item is ok on but Abbadon is probably one of them.

Just get it when you are playing carry i assume? Becouse getting it when you are support is just plain crazy.

I agree with Timminator. On a support build Sange and Yasha ain't the best choice and if no one else has gotten Mek then it is your solemn duty to purchase it. Many people mistake him for a carry when he is the best as a support. Mist Coil for Healing friendlies or finishing off fleeing enemies (emphasis on finishing off), Aphotic Shield for lane pushing, Curse of Avernus for softening up enemies for the big punch in a teamfight. Borrowed time for increased survivability. That screams tanky support. So for first time players, when you look at Abaddon, even though he is just calssified as a Melee the recommend style of play is as a durable, lane pusher, support.

Crazy? No not at all. He doesn't do that well as a super hard support plus since the patch that role is becoming ever more obsolete. His main job as a support is to keep other heroes alive, his secondary job is to set up kills for the carry. Sange and Yasha helps with both. Abb has no stun, but a half decent slow. Add the movement speed and slow from S&Y to his natural abilities and he's great at running heroes down and helping his carry to catch up, it also helps him to get into the middle of a team fight quickly to pop the mek and get back out again or get in range for a shield or whatever. If the game doesn't end pre 30 minutes you should have no problem getting a S&Y in terms of cost. If you do you may not be getting the most out of the map. It's item progression also helps him a lot over the course of a game.

Obviously you prioritize the mek. As I said he's the best mek carrier in the game imo. What would you get instead for 4100 gold that helps the team and Abbs survivability? A pipe maybe if the enemy team has a lot of magical burst damage, ok sure, but that's situational. A Scythe at a significantly higher cost when your other support which is probably an intelligence hero will be working towards that as a late game item, I don't think so. Rod of Atos is legit on him I suppose. Necro Book could work, again situational though. Shiva's guard, maybe if the enemy team is trying to crack your base and has a much better push strat, again highly situational. If you end every game as a support with a wand boots and a mek your games are either very short or you're under farmed.

So you've got your boots, mek, wand. What's your next item?
