I've been reporting them, but not sure whether I'm actually being helpful or just spamming inboxes full of "Spam bot" reports.

It's helpful. It doesn't take long for us to deal with a report AND get rid of a spambot.

They are back and with vengeance.

Pff, this is nothing

I say troll the bot threads. Make them your own "Post whatever you want" thread. Hijack the bastards. I see lot of guys saying oh this is offtopic, I suggest that we hijack these threads

I repeat myself. Dotafire was growing and now that it can't contain the spam-bots the amount of members will decrease again. If that's the plan then I am fine with it.

michi, I can't say I agree with you.

It's insanely hard to deal with spam bots, and even after the strictest of regulations are imposed (which can get very irritating themselves), People just resort to manual spamming.

Well that wouldn't be not agreeing then more like telling me that I am wrong and well...you could be right! It is quite hard for me to tell the difference.
I am sure you are doing what is best for this forum I just tend to get easily frustrated. Sorry for that.

At this stage can we just track down the IP the spam is coming from and execute whoever's responsible?

It seems the most permanent solution.
