Bounty Hunter or Gondar if you prefer is a very versatile hero. He can track you and give his team extra gold and movement speed, he can stealth for a quick get-away, or he can even throw a mini metal windmill at you. All of these together make him very devastating in the grand scheme of things, however, how devastating exactly? This is the question I asked myself when looking into stealth based carries. Granted he's not a hard carry like Anti-mage I feel he has his pro's. A few of his simple and easy to spot pro's are his mobility, gold contribution from his ult, burst damage, and uhm, oh yeah gold from his ult. If you don't get the picture already, what I'm trying to say is that he gives huge gold with that single spell and I'm not sure that any team compilation will be able to stand up against his team if he gets track kills on all 5 of them in a team fight more than once. That amount of gold hurts and it hurts bad. You may think that your one or two levels over him gives you an adv…

As the beta becomes more expansive and allows for more and more people to play, a flood of new players of Dota 2 or even MOBAs in general are coming in. As you start to play your first few matches, you may find the game very fun, but extremely difficult to learn. You may play a few more games, read a few guides and try a few new things out, but many of you may feel like you aren’t getting any better.

This is the situation that so many people will find themselves in. Even after hundreds of games, players may still feel stuck in the lower matchmaking brackets, not really knowing why they aren’t improving. It turns out that while many of you may be playing the game and practicing your skills, you may be not actually be practicing the right way. You may say “Wait, doesn’t playing the game a lot count as practice? Am I not getting better by playing more?” In the beginning, you will always get better simply by playing matches, but as you try to push yourself into higher skill brac…

Since the last time I posted, I've probably played another 20 games. I focused a lot on what people had commented on. Figuring out which player on my team needed the farm the most and not stealing gold from them. Or pushing a lane only when our team had the advantage. Playing heroes like Drow Ranger and Riki because it is hilarious to gank. I would say that my individual skills are improving to where I am not a total noob, but still not an average player. Things I still need to improve on is last hitting, playing support, and knowing when to fully commit and trust that my team mates will follow.

Things that I have noticed that a lot of people like myself struggle with is knowing when to engage in a team fight. Myself or a team member will spot a couple of the other team's heroes pushing a lane and ping the map. The whole team gets into position and then 1 or 2 people decide they don't want the chance of dying and run away resulting in the whole team dying. However, it does seem…

I would want to know why people doesnt want to play this spectacular hero, one of the best late gamers and a fairly good early gamer. I mean shouldn't this hero be encouraged more. It's skills are also improved now. What possible changes can be made to its skills or attributes so as to make it a better team game hero???

I'm a Noob

I am totally and completely fine with being new to a game and trying to get better. I played SC2 for 2 years never reaching anything higher than Gold league. I played regularly because it was fun and very competitive, there's really nothing else like it 1v1 IMO.

Anyways, I got my Beta key a few weeks ago. Having never played LOL or DOTA before I was totally new to the scene. Generally lost I picked heroes like Drow, because she was pretty easy to learn. Then when people started saying why aren't you ganking, you should be fully farmed already....WHAT!? I'm just shooting these little dudes that are trying to knock down our tower what's wrong with that?

Getting Better

Just as with SC2, I realized that there were pro games and videos that I should probably watch to learn some very basic mechanics that could make me a better player. So I watched a few games started reading this forum regularly and started playing against BOTs to get a handle on the game. I still strugg…

Why do we need a site that hosts hero guides when the same is repeated over and over again?

Can we get some diversity instead of like: "VANILA BUILD BEST! DOWNVOTE EVERY GUIDE THAT DOES SOMETHING DIFFERENT!"

Discuss.

Hi all,

I thought it would be a good idea to get a post running on the best heroes for Diretide. Clearly an aggresive faster game, where farming a lane is essentially pointless and forcing clashes around candies is the aim. As you get exp and money (for the whole team) with these fights.

So who are the best heroes? Please post your thoughts, and why below - particularly for those who haven't played it yet!!

so far high mobility is a must have - Nature's Prophet Io Tinker Batrider are all very good options for a quick smash and grab, and get back to base. blinkers as well, such as am and qop. invisibility is an advantage for the same reason, while getting lost during the fighting (the candy stashes have truesight for those who don't know.)

As a new member of DotaFire and DotA 2 as well I have decided that I need to actually bring a contribution aside from comments or applying for inhouses. My first idea was of course to make a guide but seeing as I am very new and probably using builds that work only in public games against other new players like me I decided to pass.

Instead however I decided to do a bit of thinking concerning initiator builds. The current standard is to build initiators extremely tanky with a hint of support in order to survive the fight and contribute towards the team, a new thought has hit me recently however.

Specifically whether it is viable to forgo the support items in favour of damage items. More specifically creating a builds that still retains a lot of the common build's tankiness with items such as Heart of Tarrasque, Vanguard or any other item that causes heroes to become hard to kill and to pair those items up with damage items which seem like they can fit in with this build, namely He
