I very much hope the rude community that League of Legends has does not crossover to DOTA 2, but it probably will, hopefully the game will give out a good matchmaking system and a skill gap to reduce that. I am very excited for this game and I hope I get into beta! Started playing Dota 9 years ago and I hope the keep the game as good as it was and not extremely noob friendly as LoL.

Probably won't, hopefully Valves reputation as a good company makes the community awesome.

Well, League's community is so awful because the game is completely free. I think you have to buy Dota2, since its a valve game and all..

Then again, HoN has a pretty bad community even when it was buy-to-play. Fingers crossed that it wont.
Are you not entertained?

Here's how i see the Dota 2 Community splitting

1.Hardcore/Veterens of Dota 1: Those that jump straight into the game knowing exactly what to do
Subgroup
-Elitests: Players that rage at others who don't know what to do
-Friendlies: Those that help the newbies

2.LoL players with no Dota experience: Decides not to use tutorials because they are 1337 LOL players, and get raped in Dota and start to QQ and rage that LoL is so much better
Subgroup
-Smart: Use the tutorials and research how to play dota, playing ai games to get the hang of it
-Fanboys and Trolls: Comparing everything to LoL and saying Dota is a clone of LoL

3. Newbies to Dota Genre: Have no idea what to do
Subgroup
-Smart: Use tutorials and coach features
-'1337 CoD pr0 Gam0rz': The cocky bastards who think they are superior to everyone when they are feeding 0/12/1

Im with Lich on this one. The DotA community in itself is only friendly towards those who are of a certian skill lvl. Since one person can ruin the entired game in a wider sence than in LoL, the community is hostile as anyone can be a troll or a total feeder. The benefit of the doubt is far gone, and noobs should really beware: you are starting off in a game genere that is HARD to master.

Its like playing russian rullet, only for each person joining the game, another bullet is loaded into the barrel.

Also, the "smart noobs" will still end up in games with elitests that will give them a hard time regardless of their humility and willingness to learn.

All you really can do is try to be friendly too people and hope it smittens.

Lich told all.

I am new in DotA and only played a bit of LoL but all is like Lich told before. Also I´ve tried HoN because is a bit near to DotA 2 (as I could see at The International Tournament) but the game has not got a good community.

I will try to be a smart noob here with the hope of 1337 DotA people will be friendship and they will help people like me.
I had the world in my sight
