Reading Kyfoid's thread I had an idea, Timminatorr mentioned that he would like to play with or against Kyfoid. Then I realized that we do not have the ability to go into a match and know for sure we are going to go up against someone. I would think like when forming parties to go into pub games together it would be fun to form a party set your stance to rival and go into a match guaranteeing you will come up against your rivals. It would also be nice for the occasional group of 6 people to all play together without having to split up or leaving one man out.
Now I believe that you can do so if you have full teams but I and many others do not.
Thoughts?

Would be abusable (Isn't abusable a word?) in team matchmaking, someone would feed to his friends etc etc.

Just make a lobby, invite the friends you want to play with or against and have them invite their friends, should usually get enough people.

If we pretend people wouldn't abuse it there's still a problem with wait times, if everyone on the team had some rival they wanted to play against, and said rivals had rivals they wanted guaranteed in the enemy team it'd be a ripe mess right off the bat :x

Introducing a "Rival" system would be interesting if it merely kept track of who had killed you the most times or who you had killed the most times and so on, counting all of your games but not essential enough for valve to work on, I don't think :x

I see what you mean about it being abusable.

MUHAHA, i inspired something!

I think he means that you can join a team and feed a friend to up his k/d or w/l.
But still i really like the idea.

Yeah, its not a bad idea, but sadly like they said it can be used negatively. ;/

But having a way to check the amount of deaths or wins you have vs specific people could be a fun statistic.

Can't you just join a lobby match?
