Thorax, the Overseer. Dire Strength Hero.

He should probably have a whip and a hammer to fit the theme.

[Q] Storage - Allows Thorax to put items in buildings. 1/1/2/2 items in buildings depending on level. Items inside buildings will provide their bonusses to the building, stats have no influence on buildings though. So basicly damage, armor and health will influence buildings. Items with a active ability can work, however this requires Thorax to be near the tower. Level decides range needed to be near tower.
[W] Repair - Allows Thorax or one of his creeps to conduct repairs to damaged buildings at the cost of gold.
[E] Improvement - Allows Thorax or one of his creeps to start upgrading a building. Upgrading a building will make it stop working during upgrade time. Upgrading a building costs gold. Upgrading a building will increase its damage, armor and health. Upgrading a barracks will make it produce a additional melee creep after a certain number of waves. Higher levels will mean a stronger improvement and less interval waves between the additional creeps.
[R] Enslavement - Allows Thorax to recruit a allied creep which will be permanently under his control and gets a unique look. The creep can be used to repair and improve buildings around the map depending on W and E. Leveling improves stats, build/repair rate. The creep can also carry a single item to go along with Q and possible courier work.
[Afganims] Allows Thorax to use his items in towers globally. And grants a additional worker.

So essentially this hero will be all about a strong defense by conducting repairs and upgrading buildings. Even empowering a building more by upgrading it. Also unique would be his workforce which can act as couriers to bring needed items to their location and will also allow for quicker repairs. He will also have unique pushing power to add by upgrading the barracks. I'm unsure which ability should be his ultimate though to balance it out.

Mortis, the Necromancer. Dire Intelligence Hero.

He will look like a fragile old man in a cloak with a staff.

[Q] Raise Dead - Summons two skeleton warriors from a corpse. Can be turned to autocast to automatically summon skeleton warriors from nearby corpses. Leveling this skill will increase the duration of the skeleton warriors.
[W] Unholy Frenzy - Gives increased attack speed to the target but it will drain a certain amount of hp per second.
[E] Bolt of Decay - Reduces movement speed, attack speed and the damage of the target enemy unit.
[R] Resurrect - Allows you to resurrect a friendly hero who died. Can also be used on dead creeps, except those who are magic immune, to summon them. Resurrection duration for heroes is lower then those of creeps. If the necromancer dies the hero or creep he resurrected will also die.
[Afghanims] Duration of resurrect is increased and the cooldown is shortened.

Once again reworked in order to make it less gimicky and change it into something which would be more likely to be found in the game. Figured I'd shape it after the original Warcraft 3 Necromancers. So with these skills the Necromancer would be a strong support hero while also having good pushing power with his skeleton warriors. The downside of this hero, for balance, would be the large mana costs of his abilities.

Yggdrasil, the World Tree. Radiant Intelligence Hero.

Essentially looking like a giant tree.

[Q] Spawn Treant - Creates a Treant from a nearby tree. Essentially the same as those of the Prophet however it only creates one creep. The cooldown is much lower though and it allows a much higher number of Treants to be created, they will also stay around permanently.
[W] Propagation - Creates a stem tree at the targeted location which must be within a certain radius from either Yggdrasil or another stem tree. Stem trees will appear visually obvious to both allies and enemies but will still be regarded as trees. They will also provide vision around themselves, essentially acting as lesser wards. Yggdrasil can also use items he holds near any of his created trees. He can also use his abilities near stem trees. These can be used to block passages. To balance this there would be a limit to the amount of trees he can create.
[E] Root System - Allows allies to travel between created trees and Yggdrasil, travelling takes time and the starting or destination tree getting destroyed will cancel it.
[R] Stem Switch - Yggrasil changes places with one of its created trees. This ability also provides a passive buff to nearby allies and a negative debuff for enemies in a large aoe around Yggdrasil. If Yggrasil is killed while having a stem tree he wont actually die. He can use his ultimate to take the place of one of the stem trees. If its on cooldown he will simply have to wait, while still being able to use his items near stem trees.
[Afganims] Allows Yggdrasil to move using items which gives it movement speed. Cooldown of switching places lowered. Since he will start out with 0 movement speed which can't be improved otherwise.

Above is basicly what I ended up with after thinking on how to create a hero which is all about global presence while essentially almost always staying in the fountain. This hero is all about supporting his team by providing vision everywhere and allowing easy transport and pushes. It will have the highest strength gain of all intelligence heroes, being very durable. His biggest issue would be getting experience and gold, however his creeps help with this and his stem trees should gather experience if creeps or heroes die within its vision range. (Beware Timbersaw)

Odin, the Allfather. Radiant Strength Hero.

He will be riding a eight-legged horse wearing chain-mail armor and a golden helmet. He uses a spear for melee combat.

[Q] Gungnir - Active: Odin trows his spear at his target, damaging the target and slowing him while the spear is stuck for the duration. Disarms Odin during this duration. Odin can call the spear back before the duration is over. Passive: Gives Odin truestrike. Levelling this skill will increase damage and the potential duration.
[W] Berserkergang - Active: Targetted friendly unit will go Berserk. Increasing its attack speed and damage. While also giving invulnerabilty to physical damage and magic immunity. However it makes the hero lose control and he will target the nearest visible enemy. Units going berserk will prefer targets with Gungnir stuck in them as a target. Levelling this skill wil increase damage and attack speed as well as the duration.
[E] Eye of Odin - Passive: Gives small amount of evasion, increases line of sight which now also isn't stopped by trees and shows any runes on the map. Levelling this skill will increase evasion (about 20% max) and his line of sight. (Seeing past trees could be what happens when this skill becomes lvl 4 perhaps for balance)
[R] The Wild Hunt - Active: Each friendly creep which died in a certain AOE around Odin will be reborn as a Einherjar near Odin. Einherjar will basicly be reskinned mega-creeps. Levelling this skill will increase the duration causing more creeps to be reborn.

With these abilities I gues Odin could be build as a semi-carry though his abilities are more supportive in nature. His first ability usefull for ganks and harassment, his second to push or in the mayhem of a teamfight. Third ability to support his team with rune control and to see ganks coming sooner. His ultimate meanwhile will allow for easier pushing as killing more creeps will result in more Einherjar fighting on your side.

Sun Wukong, The Monkey King. Radiant Agility Hero

[Q] The Monkey King Bar - Grants evasion and attack speed, also gives a aura to nearby allies which improves attack and movement speed. Having the actual item will give truestrike, truesight and will make you dominate enemy illusions.
[W] Race with the Monkey King - Ensnares the nearest enemy unit for 5 seconds. Gives the Monkey King maximum movement speed, making him move around on a nimbus cloud.
[E] Can't catch me! - Creates 5 illusions, if the enemy attacks a illusion they will all be instantly destroyed however the enemy will be stunned for a short duration.
[R] Transform! - Allows the Monkey King to transform into a perfect copy of a selected unit/hero/tree/building/item/rune. A nearby enemy hero clicking you will break the transformation.

Above is basicly based on how he is right now in the Secret Quest except for his ultimate. Basicly the Monkey King Bar becomes his "Aghanim's Scepter" to improve his passive even more. His other abilities are all surrounded on "Tricks" which seems tot fit the character. Also his model will start without the Monkey King Bar but will show it when he actually holds it.

Ok altered the Overseer and the Necromancer. Necromancer will now be only hero which can resurrect another hero for a certain time, while also being focussed on raising skeletons for pushing. Making there should be a maximum number of skeleton warriors he can control? And overseer now have the creep slave as a ulti which I think will be better balanced, also allows ulti to buff the creep to make it have some more use and less likely to die. Also nerfed that storage for max 2 items. Also unsure of repair cost, should be lower then a salve basicly otherwise repair wouldn't be worth it.

The Necromancer kinda reminds me of the old Pit Lord, but the World Tree looks awesome, I would play him!

Thanks for the replies! I personally think that unique heroes with a whole new playstyle are probably most needed to keep the game fresh. Like that Demon Sorcerer idea of you Porygon about having minions and making the hero get actual upgrades based on a item. Things like that are probably best for the game.

Ok changed the Necromancer to be more like his Warcraft 3 counterpart. So he will have his first ability to summon skeletons for pushing power and which allows him to create a sizable army of weak minions. His second ability will basicly be a powerfull buff to a ally and his third ability a big debuff to a enemy. With his ult being able to temporarilly resurrect someone.

Also added Odin seeing how Zeus needs a counterpart. Still unsure on how the ulti should work though.

In the late game, Odin can simply spear an enemy support and berserk an enemy carry, leading to an easy instagib :P

One suggestion for the ultimate though. When cast, instead of resurrecting fallen creeps, he calls on the warrior spirits from Valhalla and they possess all friendly living creeps in an area, buffing them (perhaps heavily) in the process.

Yes I figured that would be overpowered so its a ability only intended for friendly units now :P.

That could work though lore-wise it would be more accurate to have Odin summon the dead. Maybe make it a % determing whether a creep is revived as a Einherjar. (As not all dead were allowed into Valhalla I think.)

The Yggdrasil tree is an awesome idea. Silly question, will Quelling Blade and Tango destroy his Stems? ^^

It appears you imply that he cannot be killed?

I figured they should so he can still be countered somewhat. Which is why I mentioned Timbersaw as someone you wouldn't want to face ^^. And with that I mean as long as a Stem exists he can transfer himself to a Stem in order to survive, making him very hard to kill. Also I'm thinking to perhaps replace the Treants with four deers which apparantly wandered the actual tree, one representing every season. Giving a additional deer every time its leveled up though it might not combo as well with his other abilities as the first one.

Also adding my version of the Monkey King, basing it on the Dota 1 Secret Quest. Basicly a Trickster hero with a lot of utility.
