The other day I was trying to put in to practice my skeleton king + dark seer theory of double boots on SK and a force staff on DS. (my DS ally didn't get force staff though)

In that game I quickly realized the power of ursa and ursa alone and it really got me wondering if this is truly the most powerful character in the game when everything is said and done...

So I looked up Ursa's win rates and I do think that there are some interesting observations here...

In the following information you can note that of all the characters where ursa falls under the top 3 best and worst against that the worst of the top 3 they are best against is ursa, and on the other hand, the best of the worst against 3 characters of the other set of 3 characters is Ursa.

With the first 3 sets of "Best Against" there is a substantial 4% 6% and 5% difference between Ursa and the 2nd to best against which is a pretty profound stat. However, on the worst against there is only, at most, a 2% difference, perhaps not so profound.

This still does not change the overall revelation that Ursa is sill good against the characters that are best against her, and for the most part, the players that ursa is best against are hardly viable.

Keeper of the Light Best Against:
54 - Ursa
60
58

Magnus Best Against:
52 - Ursa
58
60

Lone Druind Best Against:
53 - Ursa
59
58

Chen Worst Against:
38
40
37- Ursa

Alchemist Worst Against:
44
40
38- Ursa

Treant Protector Worst Against:
55
50 - Drow
50 - Ursa (Tied with drow but go figure?)

There is one thing that I didn't understand about the information above and that one thing is...

Where is the Brewmaster at?

So if Ursa is such a great dictator of the game, I was thinking that if we changed our approach and figured out some kind of great combo against ursa, that this might potentially have a major impact on the game and the communities horrible attitude.

So why not Dark Seer + Brewmaster?

An ursa will run from a dark seer + axe, but maybe a dark seer + brewmaster could be the key?

The drunken haze could slow down... DS could force staff and brew could stomp.

This has actually got me thinking about how powerful Brew + Dark Seer might be over all against any characters in the game...

Thoughts?

Btw, double boots work extremely well on brewmaster in combo with his drunken haze which doesn't slow that horribly much... when combined, however, it is significant.

Dark seer could start with wand and ring of basilus to keep his mana up but also brew master's for drunken haze harassment while brewmaster gets double boots.

Double boots don't work well on anyone and are always a waste of money

That statement is pretty wrong, Ursa is occasionally picked up in competitive play and usually has a big effect on how the game sways.

Ursa being OP is also a very wrong statement, as he is very far from OP and at best is a D pick in competitive and a B pick in pub games.

Stopping ursa is simple. Kite him.
He has no way to catch fleeing heroes other then his slam. He is also very one dimensional.
Only pro game I've watched him in is when alliance 5 man tp'd rosh. After that, ursa struggled through the game.

Pros for ursa
Highest potential dps in the game

How to counter
Stuns
Slows
Vision
Blade mail

The simple reason ursa isn't picked at high levels is that for what he does, others do it better.
Ursa v life stealer - life stealer has better utility, initiation skill and survivability.

Also, hes straight up single target and requires other heros to completely initiate for him or he needs to build initiation items.

Na'vi has used him as a counter to Naix a few times since he is one of the few heros that can manfight a lifestealer.

why use drunken haze for the slow? use it for the miss chance he gets... 70% miss chance is allot together with brews 30%? dodge chance (i'm not sure about the right number) it will do just fine.
or just buy a heaven's helberd and a rod of atos and than you have a useless ursa. (ig you have ranged attackers that is)
Life is really simple, but we insist in making it complicated.

yes the 70% miss chance is significant but ursa gains a MS boost on that skill and can flee... gotta get in range to slam. Double boot.
