Well, I have started playing mobas and really got into Smite. So, we could say that I have a basic understanding of the mechanics of a moba. Than, this series, the dota 2 reporter comes along and I feel like trying dota2. I was first terrible at Smite as well, but got better after finding my favorite god, Bacchus. After that, I learned the shop, and mechanics, gods went with time. I seem to struggle with Dota and I can't find myself a hero like Bacchus who is:
Easy, tanky, has good cc. So far, I enjoyed Sniper and Enigma the most (who aren't anything like my gods)
Here's my Smite profile if anyone cares for which gods I played or so:

I would also love to get some advice on the shop.
I don't get what to buy and when, what are situational items, ect. DoteFire doesn't always help with this. There are so many terms like the BKB which makes reading a guide even harder.
I really want to get into Dota so any general tips would be awesome as well ;)

An easy hero like that Bacchus guy...So basically you need a tanky hero, that is easy and has good CC.Might recommend Dragon Knight, Centaur Warrunner , Chaos Knight.

About the items, that will come to you later.Once you know all the heroes you will know what to build against each of them to just make them less effective.

Yeah I'd recommend you check out Centaur Warrunner or maybe Tidehunter (if you enjoy using big ultimates).

Items are tricky until you understand the game mechanics a bit better, as a very general set of basics, try something like this:

- Buy regeneration to start with ( Tango, Healing Salve) and some stats items ( Iron Branch, Circlet, Gauntlet of Strength, etc).

- Buy yourself some Boots of Speed and complete a Bracer.

- Always make sure you have a Town Portal Scroll after the first 5 minutes of the game.

- Buy yourself a bigger item from your recommended list. Try to get to grips with a few at a time. Generally items like BKB ( Black King Bar) and Heart of Tarrasque are almost always useful.

It's really hard to recommend a hero for a guy that simultaneously enjoys Sniper and Enigma as a first timer...

I'll suggest Earthshaker or Magnus. Especially Magnus, that guy is great. Everyone's saying he sucks now because he was nerfed but in pub games he just rocks. And ES is pretty good. Just look them up in the dotafire database.

Whoa there just a second? Magnus sucks?Like the only reason he was picked up was Reverse Polarity, and the fact that the stun goes through Black King Bar.He wasn't picked for the damage RP had.

Yeah Reverse Polarity sucks now you can only get a 4 second BKB busting AOE stun with no channelling...um...

Phrased it wrong. I meant to say that he "sucks" now because he was not only nerfed but the people in the competitive scene started to not pick/ban him due to them getting used to how he was played, but that he is still an OP hero in pubs.

Magnus is still strong, he just can't get solo kills on mid at level six as easily as he used to. Also, he's easily countered, that's why he's not picked that often anymore in the competitive scene.

Thanks for all the replies :D
I will definitively try all of these, btw why is it hard to recommend me anything because I enjoyed Sniper and Enigma?

That's because the 2 heroes are radically different. Sniper is reliant on his auto attacks, and his spells are only good for sieging/KSing and do not change the tide of battle that much. Enigma, however, is extremely reliant on his abilities, and Black Hole can make or break a teamfight.
