Do Assists give gold ??

Hi all...

I know, I know it seems a stupid question, but Ive played for a few months and Im not sure about it.

I think assists should give me gold, but Im not sure about it. Actually, when Im playing, I think my assists dont give me gold, or maybe I dont notice it.

Do assist give gold, xp, or both?? What are the benefits of the assist for the hero??

Assists give only gold, but if you are in the area of an enemy hero getting killed by a teammate or a friendly creep (Neutrals do not count unless they are controlled by a teammate) you will gain XP from it.
