Hey guys,

Just gave a Dota 2 key to a RL friend and had a practise match against some bots with him... Obviously he was terrible haha! So any tips on teaching people dota?

A hero i have suggested he use next time is Skeleton King as I believe he is a fairly simple hero (only 1 active spell) and then teach him last hitting and probably it's just a case of practising after that?

Any good videos I can point him towards that you guys know of?

Thanks for any and all help in advance!

There are many useful videos in this playlist where he can learn a lot of useful stuff.

Single thing I can say is, be patient and don't be mean to him.

I actually started with Dragon Knight. In my opinion an easy hero to start with. Lots of passive abilities and good for top/bottom laning.

Here is a video I made about the basics, no idea if it helps your friend. It is more about what Dota 2 is, but I also tried to explain hero classification and what to look for as a starter:
I hope it is useful.
Cheers,

I think the best bet is having him learn from Dota Alt Tab and then come here. It's easier I think to learn off the Dota Alt Tab reviews, but these are much better in the long run.

Also teach him how to buy stuff, and why it's important to buy stuff. The first few games i played I didn't buy anything.
