As stated, the easiest way to avoid russians is to just play with friends or join a clan or team. I haven't had any problems getting a competent team since joining TAW.

But the easiest get away from Russians is also the hardest way. Play in a higher bracket.

Bad russians only play in the low rating bracket. If you get your rating high enough and maintain it, you won't have this problem.

Coincidentally, if you're stuck in the lower bracket and you can't win games, the only way you can accomplish this is to play in a team.

The best you can do in the mean time if you can't manage to win games or you'd rather not join a clan at the time being is to simply pick US East/West and hope for the best. Remember the chat wheel by pressing "y" in game will translate instructions in the user's native language, making it slightly easier to get a bad team mate into a better position.

Thank you for everybody!
Now it is a lil bit better... I do not know that I left the terrible-russian-swamp level and now get better teammates or I was just lucky but I could play some real fun games at least.
However sometimes I realy run into somebody like this lil fella:
https://dotabuff.com/players/4864286

I got a really sad and in the same time funny story... what happened with me when I played with him.

So he (Omniknight) and his pal (Sven) played together. We got an Ench who decided to go to the jungle, so obviusly somebody gonna solo top (dire) and there gonna be 2 on the hard lane (bot). It was clear for us... but not them. It's "okay" that none bought courier (even the OK), "okay..." but after you asked thmm to go bot but you just got and a "no", "i dont care", bla bla bla...
After these they just died constantly... FE: Sven run after a riki (lvl 6) and died between two towers... and so on...
So we asked the other team: "pls report them"

AND what happened after that? Well... please welcome my little image show about the Omniknight and MY 1400 gold Claymore:

Yes... he just destroyed the weapon! Cute, hah? :)
