Quick question involving tornado and emp:

Does EMP hit through Tornado? ex) EMP explodes while the enemy is still in the air, do they still take damage?

No, they don't.

Tornado makes them invulnerable.

Units that are in the tornado are basically immune until they land, which is also when they take damage. There is a small window before a unit lands from the tornado effect where you can hit them with spells. That is note worthy because a well timed Deafening Shout on units falling from the tornado effect will prevent them from being able to block it with BKB as they will be stunned before they regain control of their character.

So, does a hero have to be in the emp for the entire delay duration in order to take the damage and lose the mana or do they only have to catch the end explosion.

For instance if you tornadoed the enemy team and then casted emp afterwards, then the enemy team lands, then emp goes off, do they take the damage and the mana burn or do they have to be in the emp for the duration?

To be damaged and lose mana they only need to be caught in the radius of the explosion. You tornado and cast emp right after due to the delay and so when they land they are right in the middle and cant escape the explosion.
