Hello everyone,

first, I tried to see if anyone here already asked these questions but I could not find a search function. Am I missing something? If not, that would be a great feature for the forums here :)

So to my actual situation:
I played LoL for over a year (500+ games) until it became boring at lvl30+full runes, switched to HoN and played DotA for about also easily 500 games a few years back. Today I looked into my Steam account and hey - it said "You already own DotA2" - *happy* and installed it. You've guessed it, it was only the spectator client.

So I filled out the survey and was wondering if you know anything about what a experienced player (not expert) can expect in terms of waiting time until I get a beta invite. Days, weeks, months?

Also, if anyone has an invite left over, I would not say no. But if there is someone else that wants to get into DotA more competitively, please prefer these ;)

Last but not least - should I eventually get a beta key, are here any clans / teams / groups or however one wants to name itself, that are here to learn together but have no strict rules about attendance, or allow members in that don't wanna be in the core team but open for sparring sessions? The times I can train every night from 8-12 are gone, so I would love to find a training group and be happy to spend some time helping new players as well.

Alright, that's enough text for now,
gg gl hf ;)

Welcome to DotA 2 and DOTAFire!

Well, it usually takes weeks or months to get a beta invite, and it doesn't matter on your application at all, it's just luck. I got mine from www.playdota.com, where a bot gives out 180 keys daily. A key means activation of the game + 2 gifts for your friends. ( 2x DotA 2 )
I got it from there in about two weeks on my mail.

About clans, we have a matchmaking section with a lot of players and clans, of any skill levels, searching to play and practice. I'm sure you will find people to play with. :)

I hope I answered your questions, if you need more information, feel free to ask.

Thanks for your quick response! How does the playdota.com bot work? I cannot find a link or hints towards it. Is it in their forums or no longer active?

It sends 180 keys to 180 lucky users daily. The users are random, they must post in the thread specified.
