Looks like we'll be growing exponentially, especially once DotA 2 launches.

lol, I didn't expect to be one of the first members. When I joined, I actually expected to find a community hundreds-strong. Well, no matter. I intend to become a major player in the DotA community once it launches, in both the theorycrafting and competitive scenes. It's probably best I join such a community early, before it really gets to grow. :)

Yeah, I plan on making some guides on a few of the heroes I played in tournaments back in DotA once the guides are up. Hopefully the earlier ones get more attention.

As for the community right now, all there really is is the forums. Once guides come out I expect the place to become much more lively.

I don't know much about DotA... Yet. I'm an analytical thinker, and I pick things up really quickly. I'm known among a small circle of the LoL community for playing champions normally seen as being counter-meta and non-viable in roles they normally wouldn't be seen in, and playing them well.

I can't wait to theorycraft in DotA, and get some decent builds and guides down.

Well, whenever the game comes out I think I may start a DotA Training group thing for new people, just to show them the differences between LoL and DotA. One big thing, is DotA really really punishes you for making mistakes, while LoL gives you a slap on this wrist. (You lose gold when you die in DotA, as well the enemy gets gold) Also, the whole denying thing might be hard for LoL players to get used to.

I don't make mistakes on LoL. I treat it as if I'd lose gold, and I always make sure to never over extend if I don't have sufficient map awareness. I'm also very good at Starcraft II, so I expect DotA's micro to be no more challenging than the micro in Starcraft. All in all, I expect to pick it up rather quickly.

Yeah, there is more micro-management in DotA as well. If you have RTS experience you should catch on easier. Or at least be ahead of all the other mass of players coming in straight from LoL with no other MOBA experience. One other thing, DotA is much more... extreme. You will find out exactly what I mean by "extreme" one hero abilities are updated with actual numbers.

I've actually already been studying all of the heroes, and more or less know what they do, what items they build, and how effective they are at certain roles, etc. Lion and Necrolyte in particular seem to be devastating mages, and Sven seems like pretty consistent ban material, lol.

As far as carries go, I've seen Morphling, Spectre, and Anti-Mage used as hypercarries. I understand that there's no such thing as a hypercarry in LoL, but I understand how to stop them from being able to wreck a team. You just have to deny, deny, deny. Having a decent player play support against their lane really helps with that.

Yeah, but most heroes are easy to handle when counter-picked, lol
