Take out armor as part of recipe and replace with 2 shields

With 2 shields as part of the recipe, it gives the same amount of block on ranged heroes as melee heroes(the full effect of 1 shield) but they have to stand still

While blade mail is active, the player who has more life pool and is attacking the lesser life pool hero with basic attacks who has the blade mail activated has a 40-50% chance of missing that hero, but this effect is also true for the lesser life pool hero attacking the greater life pool hero while blade shield is activated.

Because the broad sword is part of the recipe, every missed attack from the opponent while blade mail is activated returns 12 damage back at the opponent, the 12 damage is deactivated for the person wearing blade mail during the blade mail activation duration.

Didn't want to make a new thread for this post, but I felt like it could possibly be a genius idea...

If not the "blade shield" aforementioned

Why not, added to the ranged heroes half as much block amount stat on shield, vanguard, etc....

"Reduces slowing effects and spells by up to x amount" (ranged heroes only)

To compensate for the practical unfair advantage that melee heroes have with the item

Major adjustments will have to be made to make way for this item concept of yours, however. Melee heroes vs ranged heroes are pretty balanced as is in my opinion.

MELEE:
-Can purchase Battle Fury, Vanguard, Echo Sabre and any other items that would otherwise be broken or unfair for ranged heroes. Without this, melee heroes will be much less picked as the advantage of being ranged would be far too good to pass up in most cases (easier harrasment in lane, combat advantages, etc.)

RANGED:
-Items like Dragon Lance and Hurricane Pike were added to balance the fact that melee heroes became too strong with buffs to Battle Fury. I'm not sure if you're aware but there was a certain patch where Battle Fury was just a core item for basically every melee carry hero since the cleave and bonus damage to creeps was too good.

My point is, I think melee vs ranged is balanced as is and while I'm not against to having your item concept added into the game, some major adjustments will have to be made in order for it to be balanced I feel.
Here are the guides that I've kept up to date:
