I'm considering making a new mode for inhouses, a mode that encourages picking the heroes that are the least played in pubs.

The mode would be all pick, but possible picks are restricted to a list decided by the host.

Idea of the list is to allow only heroes that see little play in higher skill pubs. Like, encourage people to pick Shadow Demon, Elder Titan and whatnot.

Just to be clear, this would be a semi-tryhard game mode, not a troll mode. There are a ton of really good heroes in a list like this and the idea is to play to win, just without over-abused meta heroes which allows some more original picks.

Also, an issue with a mode like this would be people saying "but I can't alt-tab while in dota to look at the list, I have an old computer or a bug that prevents me from doing it". In this case I still think it's fine because you can *print the list* before the game starts. It's just one page of paper really...

Example of list in the current patch :

- Visage
- Chen
- Elder Titan
- Brewmaster
- Shadow Demon
- Beastmaster
- Naga Siren
- Oracle
- Leshrac
- Batrider
- Keeper of the Light
- Treant Protector
- Terrorblade
- Arc Warden
- Lycan
- Phoenix
- Pugna
- Razor
- Warlock
- Enigma
- Timbersaw
- Doom
- Puck
- Jakiro
- Skywrath Mage
- Tidehunter
- Venomancer
- Magnus
- Luna
- Kunkka
- Troll Warlord
- Riki
- Nyx Assassin
- Medusa
- Chaos Knight
- Morphling
- Clinkz
- Ogre Magi
- Dragon Knight
- Sand King
- Rubick
- Bloodseeker
- Axe
- Phantom Assassin
- Bristleback
- Lifestealer
- Drow Ranger
- Crystal Maiden

Hero guides : Spectre , Windranger and Clinkz

Why even come up with those "modes"? Shouldn't a good game with mannered ppl and without ruiners be fun already? I don't know about others, maybe it's just me, but those "fun" modes are pretty far away from actually being fun in the way Dota is supposed to be - for me it's about challenging your mechanical, analytical and psychical(though that, in particular, is not fun) skill in order to win, not just running around as an EBlade-Dagon Bara and kill stuff or feed relentlessly.

Those modes are often completely chaotic, it's like instead of actually playing chess you'd start throwing the pieces at each other. I really miss normal CM or AP games we used to play at inhouses.

If you're so worried about ******** heroes(I think we all can agree than not all the meta heroes are ********, some are just good or even overrated), why not let everyone in lobby ban a particular hero they just don't want to play against?

I really don't get your point Dimonychan. Fedorable's last inhouse was really good, I think anyone who has played it will agree. The all pick inhouse I made some time ago went pretty well too. This is a clear step up fron the CM inhouses from before when we lacked people more than half of the time to have a proper game.

It's not even being worried about ******** heroes. If it was just this you could proably just ban 5-6 heroes and it'd be fine. You could make a full tryhard AP inhouse with a small banlist, I actually thought about doing that at one point. But the idea here is to make something different from usual pubs? I actually kind of like the YOLO style of inhouses.

Then probably YOLO style inhouses are just not my cup of tea. I hardly enjoy chaotic dota, that's why I haven't singed up to that inhouse.

My point is, inhouses are already very different from pub games because nobody there plays against their own team, and in pubs and ranked, this happens constantly - junglers, flamers, whiners, randomers, etc. This is pretty much the reason many people don't find dota enjoyable and quit it. The only thing from the above you can meet in inhouses is lite/friendly flaming and also some occasional whining from frustrated players like me.

For me playing a dota match without the need to face all the maladies of our community in every single game is already something extraordinary and worthy.

Also don't forget that originally the "non-tryhard" inhouses were made as a break from the regular CM/serious inhouses that started to get too ordinary and boring. Now when did we have the last serious inhouse to be bored of? Is there a need to take a break from something that hasn't been around for months now?

I agree with dimony, i kind of miss the tryhard inhouses, it was tough playing there but it was rewarding and I got to learn.
Xyrus, if you are reading this, time to host one.

I think the overall problem is not the modes but getting enough people for the Inhouses :(

It's interesting to play with least played heroes because every patch there are just some heroes that are in every game and some nice heroes can never be played. For this reason I actually like the dotacinema Captains draft tournaments more than the traditional tournaments.

And still every dota player flames someone else instead of himself.

We should do that. Don't really understand what hamster is trying to say.

I think Hamster might trying to get at "Elimination Mode" more or less (At least I interpreted it as such). Moonduck did this tournament format awhile back and it seemed like a neat concept, though we'd need enough players to carry out a Bo3 series in order to get the full experience.
