After the nerfs to bottle, it only gives a measly 90 HP and 60 MP per charge. So my question is, is it worth it this patch? Or would a few consumables serve us better?

I get that if you can secure a rune every 2 minutes, it probably still is but sub 3k a mid ( atleast when I play mid ) is not able to secure a rune every 2 minutes. Bottle crowing is not possible as then one gets flamed for hoarding the courier.

You still buy it midlane, because it's continual HP and mana sustain for a lane that really needs it. Especially when you can secure runes and the like. Get like 2 runes in lane and the item pays for itself in terms of regen

But it makes picking it up on safe laners much less desirable. I can kinda understand it on some offlaners who get super far ahead, since you know it's in the side shop, but it's mostly a mid only item.

Pubs you can probably justify just having more normal regen items.

Since you just can't have enough Chaos Breaker.

i agree with sanvitch, it's the lane sustain and rune stacking that makes Bottle so good in the mid lane.

It's still worth it on most mid heroes, since you only "pay" 330 gold to buy a Bottle and sell it later. Which is less than the cost of 3 Healing Salves for an item that gives HP regen, mana regen, and allows you to use runes efficiently to gank or escape ganks.

It's pretty dead on safe lane carries, and *thankfully* it's no longer good on offlaners anymore. So you no longer have to put up with offlaners buying bottle and controlling runes abusing their position to grab the rune before your supports and getting insane regen out of it. Personally I saw the bottle nerf as a nerf to offlanes, which were getting downright obnoxious let's be honest.

There are exceptions of course. Bottle still gives almost as much mana regen but the HP regen was cut down massively. A full bottle is now only 270 HP regen, much less than a Healing Salve. This means on heroes who only buy it for the mana regen (DK, SF...) to spam out waves and control runes it's still pretty good, but on mid heroes who only need HP regen (outworld devourer for example), I still think mass Healing Salves plus stat items can be better. Pugna also can skip bottle and focus purely on building mana regen since he can ult creeps to heal HP anyways. Also, it means that some mid heroes are no longer viable, like Ember Spirit mid or Morphling mid are all but dead since they can't deal with the harass anymore, they have to be played safe lane now.

Essentially the bottle changes make it still good on most mid heroes, but it makes the mid lane become more harassment based which is an indirect buff to harassing mids like Viper (also Zeus and Necrophos, kind of) who before were fairly easily countered by bottlecrowing, AOE spam and rune control. It's also one of the many things that made Invoker the most broken hero in the patch, since he's the only mid that doesn't rely on bottle and can trade harass with those who do.
