I play both Dota and League, although I play Dota FAR more. But I have to hand it to League with the whole seasons thing. Every 6 months or so, you get a fresh start to rise in rank, and in the end you get some bonuses based on how far you got.

So what if in dota the seasons were tied to the Majors? Every time it switches over, you recalibrate your MMR. Depending on how far you got in the last season, you would get Compendium and Battle Pass rewards/points for the new season.

I think it would be completely legit. I personally have a problem with the MMR system, and I think this would be a good solution. Thoughts?

There's your answer. Not everyone thinks the same. I wouldn't mind it at all, but that means you have to recalibrate. Some people don't play that much/often at all. So recalibrating every 3 months would suck.

No it woudn't. MMR shows how you were doing all the time.
I don't even get why people are so fancy about this. I mean you will eventually reach the point where you should be and you can just enjoy playing until reaching this point.

why not just keep the current mmr system with an extra mmr system that works in seasons. SO you can see your overall mmr and your season mmr.

And still every dota player flames someone else instead of himself.

Or we can do what Blizzard did with Hearthstone and have a Wild and a Standard. :D

I'd like to fix this paragraph. It is DEFINITELY NOT a "fresh start". What it literally does is that it removes your rank but keeps your MMR. So if you had Diamond I MMR, you'll climb back there pretty fast unless you've forgot how to play the game. If you had Bronze MMR, it will still be bronze for you.
