This isn't right at all. Phantom Assassin has excellent Agility per level and her Phantom Strike already gives +100 Attack Speed. Considering how Coup de Grace absolutely thrives off of flat +Damage, building +Damage over +Agility or +Attack Speed is the clear winner.

Hand of Midas is arguably outclassed by Battle Fury as well and isn't really recommended alongside Battle Fury as well.

I'm more talking about getting a Hand of Midas within 10 minutes. The equivalent spending of broad sword and boots
As I said in the post, beyond level 16 getting AS items won't make much difference. It's early level where AS will have a great effect. hence an early midas will greatly increase your killing power against a hero. (around level 20, you'll probably sell the midas anyway to free a slot)
With a midas, you'll probably get the Battlefury in the same amount of time maybe a few minutes longer (2-3 mins), AND be a higher level thanks to the bonus exp gain.

As with any hard late game carry - Faceless Void antimage Attack speed from level 1-16, generates greater DPS than raw damage. Beyond 16, damage will be a factor, as your attack speed from stats and items will not get much faster. Particularly from agi based items such as a yasha - which compliments both AS and dmg..

So Hand of Midas is core with any farming carry. needed within 8-10 minutes.

AS builds benefit most hard carries - more chance to CRIT for PA, burn for AM, and bash for FV.

Quelling Blade VS. Stout Shield is more on your lane opponents. If you are facing a melee lane, or 'low harass' lane - getting a quelling early is good, if not get a stout shield. TBH I consider both early items as core for PA. poor mans and quelling. it's up to the individual.

The build is OK - generally I just get boots for MS, then farm a bit more to see how the game plays out - treads is generally best - as your blink strike increases AS 100%, IE double - so the faster you hit, the faster you'll hit during blink strike, making more use of the half second it takes for a team to know you are there.

Hey WorkPants

Not having to buy Quelling Blade is one of the traditional selling points to Phantom Assassin. It's seriously not needed, your gold can be put to better use. I've had no trouble with last hitting simply using stifling Dagger and normal auto attacks.

I don't have BkB listed because this guide is for defensive play earl and partly through mid game. Emphasizing tower hugging and ambush style 1v1 fights and 1-2 kills per team fight. It's for in and out play style. Phase boots and Phantom Strike are all you need to properly escape.

I've played with both Skull Basher and Monkey King bar and I've gotten lack luster results. They are not worth the investment ,the bash stun is too short and rare. Once again the attack speed boost of phantom strike is too short 3 seconds is not enough time to get enough auto attacks, factor in opposing team mate support and if your target has proper defensive items you're much better off just melting them with attack speed and Coup De Grace procs.

I'd advise people to not theory craft on it before they vote and attempt at least one game with the build. It's haven't failed me yet.

I'm not theory crafting at all, I play Phantom Assassin regularly and I know that not going Skull Basher -> Abyssal Blade isn't playing Phantom Assassin to her full potential. Denying your opponents the opportunity to retaliate or kite is essential.

Hey Thanks for reading and commenting.

Quelling blade isn't necessary. Once again stifling dagger does enough damage and comes off of cooldown fast enough for last hitting.

You say you don't take a stout shield or early Blur. PA is really squishy up until late game when you're properly farmed. You need those defensive stats to try to stay in lane as long as possible as well as escape early aggression. Poor man's shield is a good and cheap upgrade.

Power treads aren't bad but they don't compare to phase boots at all. Besides the extra damage it provides you need to escape from fights and most importantly to chase. The slow from stifling dagger only last for 4 seconds at max level, that means in actuality it's 3 or 2 seconds long from when the animation hits and when you actually Phantom strike (blink) into position to deal damage.

Buying a ring of health is ok since your third item is a battle fury. If you feel squishy prioritize Blur first through skill points. I would not advise anyone to skip out on Blur It's extremely useful for positioning when roaming between lanes and it keeps you alive in fights. PA needs kills to help with her farm. Staying in lane farming creeps the first 30-40 minutes of a game as a PA is useless to your team.

Do not buy skull basher. The bash doesn't proc enough to make it worth buying. Phantom strike does give you attack speed for a grand total of 3 seconds :) Late game you're going to need more time than that, especially when chasing. Get a Hyperstone it's more chances for your ulti to proc that's what will help you one or two shot or two shot opponents.

-1 for many reasons:

Turning down Quelling Blade isn't wise, even with Stifling Dagger at your side. Phantom Assassin's frustratingly low base damage is best compensated for by [Quelling Blade]], which at Level 1 brings her unimpressive 47 average last hit damage to a more acceptable 62. And considering that getting last hits is everything for Phantom Assassin, you shouldn't be so quick to turn down +15 base damage. Not to mention that Quelling Blade cheaply improves the speed at which you neutral mid game and can be sold for 112g later anyways.

You don't have Black King Bar listed or mentioned at all. Enjoy dying to chain stuns and nukes from "early game" heroes all game long.

You're also simply incorrect concerning Skull Basher. Phantom Strike gives you +100% Attack Speed for four attacks. Considering the 25% Bash proc rate of Skull Basher and Abyssal Blade, the odds are heavily in your favor of getting a Bash. Not getting Skull Basher -> Abyssal Blade on Phantom Assassin is as foolish as skipping Ethereal Blade on Morphling.

Couple of things:

Its better to choose a quelling blade instead of a stout shield as you need that extra damage for last hitting. Early farm is very important for PA. Nextly, phase boots arent really necessary, because PA can blink to her target, and if running, can blink to a wave of creeps.

Power treads are better for her, as they will help the attack speed, or even health if you prefer.

And with the item build, its better to go for a ring of health early on, to make sure you can stay in the lane effectively.

Hyperstone is also unnecessary. Having power treads with agility on, and the fact that her blink gives her attack speed, means that you will be swinging faster than they can run. Save that extra 2100 for a bash (hammer.)

Blur wont be that useful early on, so its best to max that last as a skill. Focus on blink and dagger, which will allow you to get some very successful lane kills.
