First, sorry if this is in the wrong place, I didnt see anywhere that would be better for this topic. Please link me to the right area if this is the case.

I've been playing extremely casually (usually private against bots), but I recently decided to try playing online, but when I do, I cant connect to the server. It gets me set up with a match, goes to the loading screen, then disconnects and tells me I cant connect to the server.

Please explain in basic terms, as I have next to no understanding of computer jargon.

Thanks,
ZombieTym

Welcome to DotaFire.

Where are you from and which servers do you mark when searching for a game?

Maybe your connection is very slow and it just times out, so it can't connect properly?

Midwest US, and the servers I'm searching are US West and East, and Europe west.

I've been trying for limited pick and all pick for game modes, preferred language english.

If you have a slower computer, try preloading a game. Just go and watch something on the watch tab, it preloads some assets. Next time, if you queue for a game(or watch another one), it'll load faster (and not time you out if that is the problem).

I'm not sure regarding your issue, but welcome to DOTA. Don't be put off by rude comments whilst playing. I advise you to mute them and carry on.

My suggestion would be to check your ping and then limit it to servers which give you the best result. E.g myself I only play on Aus servers.
Your new diet for heroes; You will need 4 wards (cuz wards taste better), 1 set of tangoes, 1 mango, 1 cheese.
With this you can make a nice Tango Mango Cheese platter. You can wash this all down with a nice bottle of water, Can be flavoured with red, green, yellow, blue, purple AND GOLD!
Caution: Taking roshan 3 times is required.
