can someone explain to me the most recent meta on dota2?

Specifically what champions are good now, whats the most played/underplayed role etc.

I play mostly Lol since all of my friends play it and for some reason refuse to play dota2 with me ;___;, so i would like to know something about the recent meta so i can come back to dota sometimes and not be a total noob all the time.

Oh, and i would also like to know some good sites/streamers on twitch to improve my gameplay, and if there is someone here who would like to play with a total noob on dota a few matches give me a private message, i can play mostly on weekends though since i am currently serving my mandatory military service.

Do you want competitive meta or pub meta? Since there's a difference between the two. I presume the latter, but still feel like double checking.

Since you just can't have enough Chaos Breaker.

i would like to know a little about both, but mostly pub cause im not going to play ranked games until i am actually good :D

The reason im interested about competitive play is that if theres certain heroes/strategies that absolutely cant be used competitively im not going to look into themn for the reason that i dont want to invest my precious little time at home to learning them and in the end they are useless when i start to play competitive. :)

From what I can see it's pretty much this:

-Pick Troll Warlord, Axe or whatever broken hero you want.
-Win the game

There might be other stuff in between, but it's not important, I think.

I advise if nothing else getting a basic knowledge of how every hero works; unlike what I know of LoL, you'll see suprise hero picks more often in DOTA, and the genera pool of what's usable is bigger. There's only like 2 or 3 heroes in this patch I'd say are never worth picking. Especially since the meta shifts are a lot bigger in DOTA after a patch than in LoL.

Pub Meta is currently revolved are a mixture of; Axe, Troll Warlord, Storm Spirit, kind of Juggernaut and I think the usual levels of Sniper. In addition, low down into the game you'll still have pub-stomping heroes like Pudge. No idea about what supports are currently flavour of the month in Pubs, but hey.

The competitive meta is kind of the same, only with much less Juggernaut and Axe (Jugg's dropped off, and Axe has done a mixture of dropping off/getting ban priority. But the trade off is you get a lot more Shadow Fiend and Lina. You get your usual range of heroes who are always good competitive choices like Batrider and Io. Top tier supports are Lion, Earthshaker and Vengeful Spirit, with Chen pick-ups if you have a good player. Clockwork and Spirit Breaker are probably the two most common offlaners atm, with a fair amount of Phoenix.

There's an awful lot more heroes I could mention, not to mention how the competitive scene varies from region to region etc ect

However, I do need to stress the idea; Ranked Match-making is not the same as competitive. Not even close. Even when you get up to really high solo MMR, it's always a poor reflection of the competitive scene.

Since you just can't have enough Chaos Breaker.

Pick more cores than the enemy, and survive the first 25 minutes.
