Ladder Anxiety

So I couldn't find a proper definition to begin this thread with, but I think you guys know or guess what ladder anxiety is - basically what it says, unwillingless to play ranked matchmaking in online games i.e StarCraft II, LoL, **** 2, etc. For "1 vs 1" type of games like chess or Hearthstone or StarCraft II it's slightly different because there's no one to blame but you, and the only one who can flame or troll you is your opponent if he is pathetic enough.

For LoL, Dotes, and generally all MOBAs the main reason of ladder anxiety is, I think, your ranking if we talk about ranked matchmaking. No matter how well you perform or how mannered your teammates are, losing pts sucks big time. However, due to nature of this genre(and nature of people) negative impressions after lost game mostly comes from other player rather than system decreasing you MMR or your stats being ****ed up.

It sometimes affects normal pub games, sometimes even more than ranked sometimes, because there are more gameruiners/troll players or just unserious "4fun" players.

I think considering how most of us prefer to play partied up ladder anxiety is the case for most of us, and it's completely logical as average Dotofire member is very different from an average Dota 2 player at least by not being a complete ****.

Or am I wrong? If you noticed that you postpone your game for different "reasons"(i.e. "i don't feel like playing dotes right now" suddenly once you press "find match" button, or "hey look Cool_Streamer_322 just went live on Twitch **** this **** game better watch him play"), this is most likely your case.

If you understand you have ladder anxiety, what are you ways to counter it besides searching for a stack? I've noticed that even if my fears came true in a match and I got literally worst team ever of failed miserably, I don't fell nearly as bad as before the match. So if it's not so scary after all why delay your game? It could even be an ez win with you going 1000/0/1000, or your wonderful team carying your sorry ***, or you just running into the nicest stack ever. It still doesn't help in case of losing streaks unluckily - when you see your winrate drop miserably you just can't find any excuse to press that "Find Match" button.

Play solo ranked. Don't give a **** if you lose. Don't give a **** about your winrate. Make sure you do ehatever it is possible to win. If you lost, it is your fault, never others. Instead of blaming your teammates, look at what you did wrong and what you could have done better.

This is how you improve.
