Malicent, the Doom Blade

Malicent is a hero notable for two things; firstly, his unusual use of mana; and secondly, his elusiveness and mobility, moving effortlessly around in teamfights and being incredibly hard to pin down. He's a nuker with heavy physical damage and powerful lategame scaling through his Aghs upgrade, however if caught out he's extremely squishy and vulnerable.

Lore

It was rare to even find a mention of the artefact; rarer still to find a clue to its location. Of course, upon hearing of this clue, what else would an Archaeologus Primus do but assemble a team and go searching? Such were the events that led Lord Malicent of Avaticus, foremost scholar of the city, to the edges of the Scintillant Wastes, digging back centuries of sand to reveal a tomb.

Of this artefact, little was known. It was called by some the Docent of Truth, a relic that changed its form as a reflection of the world's fate. Perhaps it could have been studied, and its own truth been uncovered, had Malicent's excavators not come under brutal attack by an Oglodi horde. Unwilling to abandon his prize when he was so close, Malicent rushed alone into the tomb, hotly pursued by savage warriors. Through seemingly endless twists and turns he ran, dodging traps crafted with a technology ancient beyond imagining. Until finally, he came to a central room, wherein on a pedestal he found what he was looking for.

Whatever Malicent had expected the Docent to be, it was certainly not a wickedly barbed dagger, coloured dead obsidian. Nor had he expected the artefact to speak to him, whispering of what the world had become. The Archaeologus Primus barely noticed he had slaughtered his pursuers. The world was very clear to the Docent. Every living creature had a purpose - to kill an Ancient. And so the relic had adopted this purpose - which Ancient mattered little.

In the following weeks, as the Docent and Malicent spoke further, the two seemed to fuse in personality, synching with each other. They shared one common purpose - to kill a perfect being. And so, as his mind and body warped, Malicent became the perfect killer, his target an Ancient. Not that there wouldn't be collateral damage - the servants of an Ancient often became an extension of the being itself. As Malicent lost himself within the words of the Docent of Truth, his fate became inextricably more blurred - to kill an Ancient was to change the world, and the Docent would change with it. The question he never dared ask himself; would he change with it?
