I've recently started playing random draft mode with a couple of friends. We are experiencing difficulties actually picking. For some of us it works fine, we can choose from the pool freely when it's our turn. For others the portrait is "locked" and you can't pick heroes nor browse, when time expires you are assigned a random hero from the remaining pool.

My question is: Is this a bug or does the computer claim some of the teams pick to better even out the team balance?

If the selection is frozen, then that's definitely a bug. You should submit it to the dev forums
