Without a doubt there will be new players when Dota 2 rolls around. Here will be a list of the heroes you think newbies can pick up and play, which do not require as much knowledge of the game as others.

Character Name:
Reason:

Skeleton King (King Leoric)
-One active spell (if no drastic change from Dota 1), is rather tanky and can ressurect

Tidehunter IMO... could be off on this.

Reason: impossible to miss ulti [to a certain extent], fairly easy moveset.

Honestly, there isn't a noob driven character, the only hero I could think of is SB.

Character Name: Slayer (Lina)
Reason: Pretty simple to learn, easy to understand and use. No confusing abilities and can be a beneficial hero even if your new.
Are you not entertained?

True dota is known for its steep learning curve, some heroes are easier to play such as SK (right click hero) compared to invoker

New people should mainly stick with bots until they learn one good character, use him in rank games, and find out what dota's really about.

Dazzle
Reason: As a supporter hero, he doesn't need a load of farm and he can help your team even if he stays back out of danger. Good factors for a newbie (since feeding is the worst thing you can do). His ult is pretty much unmissable too, he can heal himself, has a get-out-of-jail-free card with Shallow Grave and Poison Touch has decent range and kicks *** as both an offensive and defensive spell.

Don't forget he also as RIDICULOUS base damage and his heal damages surrounding enemies for a certain amount of damage depending on how many allies you heal.

The best way for me when I was new to DOTA was to pick a character that interested me and stick with him/her/it until I was decent. It's all about finding a character you have fun with, not one that everybody else likes, because truthfully you will have to play with that hero A LOT!
